4 Where are we now? (15/12/10) The 2011/12 NHS Operating Framework states (4.14) PCTs should ensure they develop effective HV services, with sufficient capacity to deliver the new service model. (24/11/11) The 2012/13 NHS Operating Framework states (2.13) that SHAs and PCT clusters should work together to deliver the number of HVs and ensure new HVs coming through are effectively supported and deployed. (19/01/11) 1st reading of the Health and Social Care Bill (30/12/11) A Call to Action - One year on produced (12/03/12) Getting it right for children, young people and families is launched along with a suite of tools. E.g the MW-HV and HV-SN pathways and guidance to LA s, and GPs. (31/05/12) Consultation closes on the Law Commission Regulation of Health & Social Care Professionals (04/04/12) HV Implementation Plan Quarterly Progress Report published. (10/04/12) The CHRE launch their interim report of their review of the NMC. (11/05/10) The coalition is formed: There is a pledge for 4,200 more health visitors by May 2010 Coalition Agreement: We will refocus funding from Sure Start peripatetic outreach services, and from the Department of Health budget, to pay for 4,200 extra Sure Start Health Visitors (08/02/11) The HV Implementation Plan: A Call to Action is launched 2012 (19-20/10/11) At CPHVA conference, the NMC announce a review of the NMC 3rd part of the register (July 2011), DfE & DH...and Anne produce 'Families in the Milton launches Foundation Years' & the Preparation 'Supporting Families in the for Birth & Foundation Years' Beyond resource pack (30/04/2012) Celebration event to recognise the work of the Early Implementer Sites (EIS) and to launch the next wave (06/2012) The CHRE is due to launch their final report on their review at the NMC.

11 Progress To Date The new service Health Visitor Implementation Plan Twenty early implementer sites (EIS) were launched March 2011, additional 6 join in August 2011 Building Community Capacity Education frameworks published Research projects procured Raising the profile Stakeholder activity Highly visible leadership for the programme through creation of a new Health Visitor Taskforce Joint work with DfE on Foundation Years guidance and tools for parents, service commissioners and providers National DH/CPHVA road-shows Leadership, Governance and performance Prioritisation of health visiting provision at regional and local level Establishment of PCT Cluster Nurse Directors Monthly meeting of SHA health visitor network 11
12 Progress To Date Increasing the numbers National recruitment drive Jobs for 540 newly qualified Health Visitors Nationally, we expect to train more than 1,800 health visitors in 2011/12, an increase of 1,300 over 2010/11 Mobilising the profession and partnership CPHVA Roadshows Call to action events hosted with NHS Institute Visits to all SHAs by Health Visitor Programme team Stakeholder Forum Communications and media Range of articles in professional journals and web sites. A greater breadth and depth of engagement with practitioners, training bodies, service providers and commissioners In October 2011, in partnership with the NMC, we will write to all registered health visitors, making them aware of the new opportunities for the profession and inviting them to come back to practice if they have left the profession. 12
