2 TARGET AUDIENCE This course is designed for nurses who care for the critical care or progressive care patient. OVERVIEW AND OBJECTIVES As today s healthcare continually evolves in scope and complexity, critical care/progressive critical care nurses require an expanded knowledge base to advance their patient s plan of care. This course will focus on current research and trends. Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to: Describe resources that can assist to endure and implement change in healthcare. Understand early identification of delirium and current management techniques. Review best practice for evidence based practice and describe its use in critical care. Identify the clinical indications for administering CRRT, including an overview of patient selection and therapy application. Discuss evidence based practice and supporting research in administering CRRT. Demonstrate advanced understanding of drug abuse, toxicology, and critical illness. Develop a team approach to neurological emergencies and resuscitation. Review the evaluation of patients with potential neurological emergencies. Recognize toxidromes of common classes of street drugs. Recognize the pitfalls of the common urine drug screen immunoassay.
