2 Scope of Services Wound care evaluation and treatments following evidence based medicine The use of advanced wound care products to promote healing The use of advance adjunctive wound care treatments to promote timely wound care healing Patient and family education on their disease processes, wound care treatments and therapies they can do to help promote the wound healing process

3 Wound Types We care for all types of wounds including diabetic neuropathic ulcers, venous insufficiency ulcers, pressure ulcers, arterial ulcers, burns, surgical wounds, acute wounds like punctures, abrasions, traumatic amputations, etc. Any break in the skin that causes an open wound is our specialty. We treat patients of all ages.

4 Resolution Rates Healing rates are 100% for all types of wounds except diabetic ulcers which is around 75%. Bringing in Total Contact Casting should help with these numbers and reduce the amount of amputations. Standard of care is a 25% reduction in wound size in 4 weeks. We are meeting this standard by 80% in most cases, most of our outliers are diabetic ulcers.

5 New Services Total Contact Casting for diabetic foot ulcers will be implemented and utilized once the proper training has occurred. Total contact casting is the Gold Standard Treatment for assisting with healing in diabetic foot ulcers. Total Contact Casting has helped to reduce amputations rates significantly.

7 Staffing Issues Continue to look for a new Director/Provider of Wound Care Services 1.0 FTE (Jeanne Alvarez FNP, CWS, DNC has resigned as of ) When the volume increases there will be needs for another nurse Currently, we need a 0.4 FTE nurse and another per diem nurse to cover vacations, sick days and holidays. Staffing is difficult in this department as the training is extensive for the department to be run competently. We can t just pull nurses in from other departments.

11 Marketing Wound Care is one of the best kept secrets at Holy Cross Hospital. We need to do a marketing campaign to promote the wound care clinic and let providers and community members know this service is available. I believe we should also market to surrounding areas. The closest wound care clinic to us is in Santa Fe, many people would choose to stay local if they knew about this service.

12 Quality/Satisfaction Scores There are no quality satisfaction scores for wound care. In Avatar we would be under outpatient services but that is not specific for this department. Only one survey was done for Day Medicine (which we were a part of in the past results 100% satisfied). We are well liked by our patients and well respected by other providers and the community. We would like to do satisfaction survey specific for wound care but was told in the past we could only use our current system, which is not designed to ask questions about a wound care clinic.
