One System - Three Solutions Equipment Modules Drug Zones and Reference Materials E-learning and Learning Management System
For both hospital and pre-hospital staff the call to a child who is severely ill or even in cardiac arrest can understandably cause alarm. Emotional issues compound the complexity of dealing with paediatric emergencies, which vary from an infant with a severe infection to an intoxicated teenager with head injuries. In the Emergency Department one might hear: Does anyone know how much that seven year old with asthma weighs? What s the adrenaline dose for a three year old with peanut-allergy anaphylaxis? I ve got a twelve year old in full cardiac arrest following a suspected stabbing coming in, what size endotracheal tubes should I get ready? Whenever we meet a challenging and unfamiliar situation readily available expert guidance is crucial. For anyone encountering sick and injured children the Paediatric Emergency Care system offers a clear, comprehensive and rapidly accessible system to support care. The Paediatric Emergency Care system is designed by a team of Resuscitation Officers, Paediatric Senior Nurses and Lead Consultants. Not only does the system provide guidance on drug dosing but the provided tape allows for rapid access to guide the likely weight for any child - such a crucial step in resuscitating children. All the commonly used drugs in emergencies are included, based on the latest BNF for Children (January 2015) and the EPLS 3rd edition manual. The luxury of the one dose vials is rare with children, however the Paediatric Emergency Care system makes drug dosing as easy and stress free as it can get! The system also allows access to a range of e-learning materials to keep your skill set up to date. Paediatric Emergency Care system provides a rapidly accessible, simple and effective system for pre-hospital and ambulance staff, emergency departments, theatre and paediatric teams to provide consistent and effective emergency care for children in the critical early hours of severe illness. Dr Joe Brierley MRCP, FRCPCH, FFICM, MA Consultant Intensivist Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children London
Not all children are the same The Paediatric Emergency Care system provides a rapid and safe solution to managing paediatric emergencies. Drug zones from 3kgs to 36kgs are listed and divided into 4 colour coded zones The system uses the Wet Flag acronym for all of the resuscitation drugs as taught on many accredited paediatric resuscitation training programs (European Paediatric Life Support and Advanced Paediatric Life Support). All drug dosages that are essential to patient care are pre-calculated using the British National Formulary for Children (January 2015) and the European Paediatric Life Support Manual. All drug dosages are displayed in an easy to read format and conform to current UK prescribing standards. Sections include Cardiac Arrest, Cardiac Emergency, Diuretic, Anaphylaxis, Hypoglycemia, Fluids and Electrolytes, Analgesia, Convulsion, Septicemia Meningitis, Poisons / Overdose, Respiratory Emergency, Parkland (burns) and anesthetic drugs. Included in the package are the tapes designed to allow rapid weight estimation of the child. These are based on published data from the World Health Organization. We can develop tapes for use in other countries to assist with clinical care in hospitals or humanitarian projects.
New Cloud Based System Our new cloud based system is an addition to the book. Not only do you retain the drug zones but these have been enhanced to allow for patient information to be added to them. These are printed out for each child. They also have an area for drugs that have been administered to be signed and dated. The cloud based system allows for the information to be updated to ensure that the most up to date reference and drug dosages are available to the clinical team. The cloud based system as been designed to run on PC s and tablets computers. Not only are the drugs zones available but also links to other reference materials. It is also able to have your own hospitals policies and procedures unloaded to the system and your hospitals logo added to the downloads. E-learning As part of the cloud system we have also developed a range of e-learning packages to keep the essential skill set of staff up to date. All the packs are designed to run on HTML5 so can be viewed from multiple devices. The e-learning portal has its own Learning Management System allowing for training data to be sent to a nominated person. The system is also linked to the British National Formulally for Children to allow for rapid access to drug prescribing and interaction information. The resuscitation algorithms are also built into the system to allow rapid references to be sort. Access to the system is via a login password projected page.
Equipment Modules These have been designed to carry the right equipment ready at the right time to deal with paediatric emergencies. The modules can be used both in hospital and in the pre-hospital field. Modules can be supplied either fully kitted or empty allowing you to equip modules to your needs. The design of the modules also allows them to be resupplied from your own stock, or purchased though our restocking page on the website. Modules are designed for ambulance services, military units (NATO stock number available), hospital wards and departments.
