8 Modules of study Year 2 Adult field Nursing the acutely ill patient. Caring for the patient with long term conditions. Using Evidence in Practice. Practice Learning all adult placements, including more acute and specialised placements, ITU, A & E, operating theatres. Assessment methods include a written exam, a drug calculation exam, essays, poster presentation. Slide 8 12/10/14
9 Modules of study: Year 3 Adult Nursing Care of the patient with complex needs Preparation for registration and professional practice Dissertation Practice Learning all adult placements, including more acute and specialised placements. Final placement is a 12 week signoff placement. Year 3 includes support for employability / job application processes Slide 9 12/10/14
10 Modules of study Year 2 Child Field Developing knowledge and skills in caring for the acutely ill infant, child, young person and their family. Developing knowledge and skills in caring for the infant, child and young person with long term conditions and their families. Using Evidence in Practice. Practice Learning all child placements, Paeds A&E, NICU, Children's Community Nurses, General Paeds Wards, Paediatric Ambulatory Assessment Units, Kidsco, CAMHS - eating Disorder unit, young people's mental health residential care, Special Needs School, main stream schools, Health Visitors. 11 Modules of study -Year 3 Children's Nursing. Consolidation of knowledge and skills in nursing the infant, child and young person. Preparation for registration and professional practice. Dissertation. 16 Location of Placements Includes: Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust (includes Barnet and Chase Farm sites), Whittington Health, North Middlesex University Trust, BMI Healthcare Hospitals, Moorfields and Stanmore Hospitals, Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust, Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health Trust (includes Enfield Community Services), Camden Community, Haringey Community, St Ann's Hospital, St Pancras Hospitals. 17 Clinical Placements 50% of the course is spent in clinical practice, working shifts, providing care for patients & clients. Practice placements are arranged by the University to ensure students receive the best possible and varied clinical experience to enable students to become safe and confident practitioners. All students are allocated to a designated trained nurse who will be their practice mentor during their placement. The mentor will be responsible for teaching and assessing students, and providing feedback on performance.
