Future directions for sustaining Rural Maternity Services KEYNOTE SPEAKERS Prof. Lesley Barclay University of Sydney Emeritus Professor Lesley Barclay is an educational leader, health services researcher and systems reformer whose projects have improved maternal child health services in urban and remote Australia and internationally. Much of her recent research has been rural, remote or Indigenous focussed. Her most recent employed role was Professor and Director of the Centre for Rural Health in Lismore for Sydney University. Lesley will be outlining the role of leadership in improving rural maternity care. Prof. Sally Tracy University of Sydney Tweed Byron Health Sally Tracy is Professor of Midwifery research at the University of Sydney and conjoint Professor at the School of Women s and Children s Health at the Faculty of Medicine, UNSW. Professor Tracy has extensive experience in community and high-risk care in Australia. She has published widely on the epidemiology of obstetric intervention in labour and birth, preterm birth, and the outcomes of midwifery continuity of care. We look forward to Sally presenting the Keynote Address Re-envisaging Maternity Care in Small Rural Services. is presently working as the Midwifery Group Practice Mentor for the Tweed Health Service. Patrice set up the caseload midwifery and home birth pilot program at Sunshine Hospital. In Melbourne she has extensive experience advising governments and regulators on midwifery issues. She is a former President of the Victorian Branch of the Australian College of Midwives. Patrice is passionate about practical ways to sustain MGP Services.
