3 ?CalendarViewType=1&SelectedDate=2/2/2018 AB-387 UPDATE Assembly Bill 387 would require health care facilities to pay allied health students, except nurses, the minimum wage for their time spent in clinical training that is already required for state licensure CSRC opposes the enactment of this bill Even though this bill attempts to address low-income disparities among students it fails to recognize that treating students as employees could have adverse consequences: o Hospitals may not agree to take the burden of paying students and could disaffiliate from educational programs or may start charging programs to take students (may inadvertently increased tuition fees for students) o Student versus employee responsibilities may be confused, resulting in potential patient safety and liability issues o Providing students with a wage may violate accreditation policies and standards Current status tabled to inactive files but could potentially be brought back to be tabled if enough lobbyists are available CSRC will be promoting the consequences of this bill to our assemblymen and politicians at Legislative day, come join us!
