You ll experience a keynote and three additional presentations. Co-Sponsors:

3 April 19 Child Health Conference Keynote Presentation The Impact of Trauma Dr. Tara Gill, staff psychologist at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children s Hospital Center for Childhood Resilience. Dr. Gill received a bachelor s degree from Jackson State University and master s and doctoral degrees in clinical psychology (child track) from DePaul University. She completed a pre-doctoral internship at the University of Chicago/LaRabida Children s Hospital and a postdoctoral fellowship at Mount Sinai Hospital in child and adolescent behavioral health. Dr. Gill joined Lurie Children s Center for Childhood Resilience in She has more than 15 years of experience in outpatient, community, hospital, and school-based mental health. Her work focuses on increasing best practices and capacity building with educators, community leaders, and other mental health professionals. Her particular interests in working with children from marginalized communities and trauma saturated backgrounds have guided her career to include advocacy, child welfare, policy, and community engagement. Presentations: Immunization Requirements for Jan Daniels, Illinois Department of Public Health Asthma Management - Lindsay Wilson and Laura Sztuba, Kankakee County Health Department Early Development Instrument - Tiffany DeRocco, United Way of Kankakee and Iroquois Counties Certification hours: Five contact hours are being applied for through KCC for nurses, counselors, dieticians, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and respiratory therapists, social workers; Professional Development hours will be awarded to teachers.

5 Kankakee County Health Department 2390 W Station Street Kankakee, IL Español The Kankakee County Health Department believes all citizens have the right to a broad continuum of community-based services that protect, maintain and promote the bio-psychosocial health and well-being of the community, and provide a safe and healthy environment. The department continually assesses the health needs and resources available, promotes development of appropriate needed programs and assures that quality services are acceptable, available, accessible and accountable. These services are delivered in a manner that respects individual and community dignity, values and rights, as well as established federal, state and local standards. Administrative Services Planning, budget, community coordination, and emergency preparedness activities. Environmental Health Food sanitation, lead inspection, nuisance and solid waste, body art and tanning inspections, private sewage disposal, vector control, and well water safety. Health Promotion Health education in schools, community groups and organizations, and health fairs. Tobacco prevention and cessation programs. Maternal Child Health Assists eligible pregnant women and young children with obtaining access to prenatal and well child care, immunizations and screenings. Provides pregnancy testing, genetic referral services, and case management to foster children through HealthWorks. Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Nutrition education, health screenings, and nutritious foods to eligible pregnant, postpartum or breast-feeding women and their infants and young children. Chronic and Communicable Disease Prevention Surveillance, investigation, education and prevention of infectious diseases. Clinic services include immunizations, TB skin testing, STD/HIV testing, and lead screenings. Many private insurances, as well as Medicaid and Medicare, are accepted for adults and children.

6 Registration information Pre-registration Pre-registration is required. Registrations are processed on a first-come, first-served basis. MAJOR ROUTES TO KANKAKEE COMMUNITY COLLEGE Registering a friend or co-worker You may register yourself and others. A separate form must be submitted for each person. Information required for each person such as address, birth date and Social Security number should be included. Cancellation policy Cancellations must be received by April 13. Late cancellations are not eligible for a refund. Please allow 2 weeks for processing. You may also transfer your registration to another person at no cost/penalty. Please contact KCC at to cancel or transfer your registration. Disclosures Criteria for judging successful completion of the seminar are attendance at the entire activity and submission of a completed evaluation tool. Be sure to check in before the workshop begins at the registration counter inside the Workforce Development Center entrance. Please note: In order to keep our workshop costs low, we do not provide lunch or afternoon refreshments. You are welcome to bring your own lunch, snacks and drinks with you.
