Southwestern s Cosmetology features a full service salon, where students can work on their technique and gain valuable experience while they are in college. So why should you enroll in Cosmetology at SCC? The Cosmetology instructors are trained in various methods of Haircutting, from different academies. We take components of each method back to our classrooms and labs. We do not teach just one method of cutting. We embed in our program certain aspects of cosmetology that are otherwise given the label of elective at other schools. This makes it cost effective for our students, as they are already receiving this advanced education yet not at an unnecessary expense. Our instructors incorporate other areas and disciplines (technology, Business, etc) into the curriculum so that our students have experience in that part of cosmetology that is often neglected, business management. Having good technical skills will support a business, having good business skills will keep it running. There is great satisfaction in being a salon owner. First changing people s styles and color is stimulating. It makes you feel good to make others feel and look good. And second, there is nothing more gratifying than seeing your stylists build their careers. - Debbie Miller Owner, Image Maker Salon Cosmetology, SCC class of 1975
