1 GERRI L. MATTSON, MD, FAAP, MSPH Public Health Pediatrician PERSONAL Dr. Mattson has worked on program development and implementation in the NC Title V program in the NC Division of Public Health for 12 years. She provides pediatric medical knowledge and expertise to the state s Title V program, local health departments, multiple health care providers and numerous professional agencies. Dr. Mattson has over 20 years of experience in practicing medicine in a variety of pediatric health care settings. This includes completion of a pediatric internship and residency, providing direct care in federal and county inpatient and outpatient public health facilities, private outpatient and hospital based practice, a military facility, and as a volunteer in a university sponsored free clinic. She currently practices part time in a local health department pediatric clinic. She completed a Master s in public health at the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health in the Department of Maternal and Child Health. Dr. Mattson enjoys reading, kayaking and spending time under an umbrella at the beach. Use of variety of methods (i.e., QI and motivational interviewing) to enhance quality, effectiveness, and access to evidence-based health preventive, acute and chronic care services for physical, developmental and behavioral health and to address social determinants for individuals and communities across the state in partnership with public and private providers. Provided comprehensive well and acute care coverage with anticipatory guidance for the Child Health clinic at a rural health department with a large Hispanic population. ABC Pediatrics of Angier Angier, NC 12/04-06/05 Part Time Staff Pediatrician (Private Practice) Provided outpatient clinic coverage once a week for a rural private practice with a large Medicaid and Hispanic population where I previously worked. Provided comprehensive well and acute care with anticipatory guidance to pediatric patients in an outpatient setting for newborn to 21 year old patients. Injury and Violence Prevention Branch in the North Carolina Division of Public Health 05/04-03/05 Public Health Program Coordinator Joined to help to lead a strategic planning process with the Branch Head and staff to create a state plan for injury and violence prevention. Collaborated with multiple key people and stakeholder organizations outside and inside the state of NC working in injury and violence prevention. Conducted an assessment of the current capacity for injury and violence prevention in NC. Developed an external environmental analysis survey tool to assess capacity in drowning prevention. Assisted with a presentation of data to describe the burden of injury and violence in the state. Worked on preparing a letter of intent and grant proposal in youth violence and securing letters of endorsement for another CDC grant. Womack Army Medical Center Fort Bragg, NC 06/ /2003 Locums Tenen Pediatrician (Military) Provided outpatient coverage in a pediatric clinic on a part time basis.
