2 CONFERENCE DESCRIPTION This 21st Annual Winter Conference on Emergency Medicine is designed for emergency physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, as well as out-of-hospital providers who see patients that need immediate care in the Emergency Department or Urgent Care setting. A wide variety of topics pertinent to the practice of the emergency care provider will be presented in lectures, case presentations, and interactive sessions. The goal of this conference is to present and critically assess recent advances and key topics in emergency medicine and to enhance the knowledge of providers, resulting in improved patient care. Content for this year s conference has been selected using extensive needs assessment data including past participant topic requests, clinical expert input, current practice guidelines, and Symposia Medicus on-line needs assessment survey of healthcare professionals involved in emergency medicine. An outstanding faculty has been selected based on their individual areas of expertise, their ability to communicate first-hand knowledge to others, and their commitment to address issues of current concern to attendees. These Round Table Discussion Sessions, organized to provide an opportunity for greater participant/faculty interaction, will give you an opportunity to discuss subjects relating to your particular areas of interest. You are encouraged to bring cases or issues you are confronting in your clinical practice to discuss during these sessions. Educational Resources Each registrant will receive an extensive conference syllabus containing pertinent information on each topic presented.
