3 INTRODUCTION This 5 th annual survey of pay practices for Nurse Practitioner (NP) and Physician Assistant (PA) positions, specifically by specialty, was conducted in the fall of The purpose of this survey is to provide comprehensive up-to-date information on compensation practices for these critical positions. Information is reported as of August 1, Participating Organization Information Healthcare organizations (hospitals, clinics, health systems, academic medical centers) from across the United States were invited to participate in the survey. 100 organizations located in 27 states responded to this survey and reported pay practices for at least one survey position. See Alphabetical List of Participants for a listing of participating organizations. Participants varied in size based on total number of employees and number of NPs and PAs employed with averages of 11,078 and 227 respectively (representing larger organizations this year compared to last year with 9,515 and 180 respectively). See table below for more details. Central States: Arkansas, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, and Nebraska. Northeast: Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia. Southeast: Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee. Southwest/West: Arizona, California, Utah, Texas, and Washington. Statement of Survey Data Confidentiality The objective of our firm's survey reports and all methods and procedures used to produce the reports, is to provide maximum information value without disclosing any information that could be specifically associated with an individual survey participant. All survey data submitted by participants for surveys conducted by our firm is provided on the basis that the data confidentiality of each participant will be fully protected at all times. Protection of confidentiality extends to compensation data reported and to any kind of observation or form of analysis that could serve to identify a participant s data to an experienced compensation professional.
