World Sight Day is an annual day of awareness to focus global attention on blindness, visual impairment and rehabilitation of the visually impaired held on the second Thursday in October, every year. World Sight Day is observed around the world by all Eye Care Professionals involved in preventing visual impairment or restoring sight. As per WHO in India there are 133 million people who are visually impaired or blind due to non availability of glasses. And this figure is globally around 670 million. It is really a irony that so many people are simply devoid of a pair of glasses. In this occasion the President OAC, Optom. General Secretary of the Association, Optom. Kamal Pant stressed to the public to visit their nearest optometrist for regular eye sight check ups once in 6 months to reduce the impairment due to uncorrected refractive errors.
