An applicant for the doctorate program should be a 615

2 registered nurse with a Master of Science in Nursing degree or a degree in another health related area. Date of Application : Prior to the examination dates, detailed information on that year s admission procedure are announced through the newspapers. Students may obtain application forms from the Office of Admission, Yonsei University. Entrance Examination : The entrance examinations are offered twice a year, June and December. Fifty percent of the admission quotas may be filled with applicants with outstanding achievement in research or practice in nursing. These applicants will be exempted from the entrance examination. Detailed information on admission criteria is available at the. Degree Requirements : Graduate students working toward the degree of Master of Science in Nursing must satisfactorily complete a minimum of 30 semester credit hours and candidates for the degree of Doctorate in Nursing must satisfactorily complete a minimum of 30 semester credit hours in addition to the 30 semester credit hours required for the master level. Candidates for both degrees are required to pass a comprehensive examination. After passing the comprehensive examination, the candidate must submit a written thesis as evidence of their ability to conduct independent research at advanced levels. Post-doctoral fellowship program : The offers two distinct postdoctoral fellowship tracks for individuals with an earned doctoral degree from home or abroad. Qualified individuals will be awarded with a scholarship to carry out a joint research project with faculty members of the. The other track is for individuals who would like to obtain experience in research and education by working with a mentor. These individuals are required to pay tuition. Scholarships : Several different scholarships are available at Yonsei University, the CMB- UB scholarship, the Maple scholarship, the Lee Youn Soon scholarship, the Chang Dae Young scholarship and the Kim-Sasakawa scholarship. MA614 Advanced Practicum on Community Health Nursing Clinical course: application of nursing theories in community development and demonstration of administrative, organizational, and structural approaches to problem solving of community health problems. MA616 Clinical Pharmacology Presentation of drugs by mechanisms of action and other pharmacologic properties as they relate to pathophysiologic changes. MA617 Advanced Health Assessment Seminar and practice in history taking, physical examination and interpretation of laboratory results. MA618 Pathophsiology This course is to study pathogenesis, morphologic change, functional derangement, and clinical significance with a nursing perspectives for the application in nursing settings. MA619 Biobehavioral Research This course is opened to graduate students in order to provide basic understanding of the interactions between psychosocial factors and physiological responses and to discuss the steps and issues related to designing a biobehavioral research project. Particular emphasis is made on psychoneuroimmunology, the effects of psychosocial factors (i.e., stress) on autonomic nervous, endocrine, and immune responses as well as their implications on health outcomes. In addition, some non-pharmacological strategies and interventions used in the field of biobehavioral research will be discussed. MA715 Gerontological Nursing Presentation and discussion of issues, theories, and research in gerontological nursing. MA716 Advanced Statistics Presentation of theory and practice in statistical analysis according to the types of variable and objectives of research. The following statistical analysis are included; multiple regression analysis, path analysis, analysis of co-variance, logistic regression analysis, factor analysis, and multivariant ANOVA. MA717 Economics of Public Health Service Seminar on issues related to economics in public health service such as costeffectiveness of health service and health insurance MA720 Family and Life Span Developmental Theories This course focuses on the application of conceptual frameworks and theories. In the health patterns of families across the life span. Emphasis is on growthand development, family function, structure, dynamics, and coping strategies in a variety of environmental context. Transitions within families during health and illnesses will be addressed.
