IOSH's Richard Jones (Head of Policy and Public Affairs) advised five key things to prepare for ISO and it was discussed in the persentation. The IOSH Occupational Health (OH) toolkit i.e. for Stress, MSD, Occupational Cancer, Inhalation disorder, Skin disorder, Occupational noise and Non work related conditions which is a free resource. It brings together information, guidance, factsheets, case studies, training materials, presentations and more to help OSH professional to tackle occupational health problems at the workplace. The purpose of Temporary Traffic Management is to provide a road environment that is safe for all road users and workers during construction works, while maintaining access and traffic flow in the region. Mr. Mark further explained how to maximize the Health & Safety measures and ensure safety for all road users, including pedestrians and road workers is identified and suitably addressed. At the same time fulfillment of Legal & other requirements i.e. Qatar Construction Specifications (QCS 2010/14) -Section 1 Part 16 Traffic Diversions and other technical details such as Work Zone Traffic Management Guide (WZTMG) which is the minimum standard to work for highways in the State of Qatar. Info Only - Networking Break for the attendees- 3. The committee warmly welcomed the new and upgraded IOSH members in the region of Qatar. Committee carried out effective networking and a quick chat with the attendees & CNA-Q students. Info Only - 4. Overview of the Presentation 2 By Alun Griffiths (Sr. HSE Consultant) presented a topic on Fire Risk Assessment. A fire risk assessment is designed to minimize the probability of the event of a fire by identifying the potential hazards and fire risks within the targeted facility. Info Only Mr. Griffiths enlightened fire risk assessment concept which has two components balanced against each other, one is the possibility of a fire occurring and the other the magnitude of consequences of that fire. These risks can be reduced to acceptable levels by various methods including good housekeeping, specially designed electric apparatus, equipment located away from the risk and have compressed gasses used in the processes, piped to the risk from a bulk storage or centrally located position. The principle of the fire safety management is to use a 5 Steps Risk Assessment approach, which is goal based and flexible. The Responsible Person (RP) generates the risks assessment in the workplace, therefore, to safeguard the safety of occupants Finally, Peter Bohan & Mehboob Reza thanked all the attendees for their attendance and the meeting was closed at 20:30hrs Info Only - Page 5of 7
