2 Friday February 27 Located at the UCF Student Union Registration 8:00am-9:00am Workshop 9:00am-4:30pm (Lunch from 12:00-1:00) Family Play Therapy with Eliana Gil, PhD, LMFT, RPT-S This workshop integrates systems theory with play therapy. A rationale for doing so will be provided as well as a number of useful techniques that will familiarize participants with play therapy goals and techniques. Participants will be exposed to family play genograms, family puppet stories, family sandtrays, as well as a variety of other strategies for engaging all family members and promoting treatment goals. Play therapy will be presented as a universal approach that facilitates cross-cultural work. Eliana Gil received her doctorate in family therapy from the California Graduate School of Family Psychology in San Rafael, California. She is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, a Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor, and a Registered Art Therapist. Dr. Gil has published many books and articles on child abuse and related topics, including "The Healing Power of Play:Therapy with Abused Children" and "Play In Family Therapy." She is a well-known lecturer, author, teacher, and clinician, and she has presented workshops all over the world. She has served on the Boards of Directors of the American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children (APSAC), The National Resource Center on Child Sexual Abuse, and The Association for Play Therapy. 3 Clinical Supervision with Eliana Gil, Ph.D., LMFT, RPT-S Play therapy clinical supervision with one of our most distinguished Registered Play Therapist Supervisors Saturday, February 28, :00 a.m.-10:00 a.m. $ Prior to the Saturday conference sessions, Dr. Gil will provide 2 hours of play therapy clinical supervision and consultation in a small group format. Space is limited to 10 participants, and the $ fee is separate from the conference fee. All participants must be prepared to present and discuss a play therapy case during the session. This session qualified for two hours (2.00) of clinical supervision continuing education credit. Applicants must complete the supervision registration form and submit a separate check for the supervision fee. Space will be assigned on a first come-first-served basis. The first 10 registered participants will be notified that they are in the group; all others will have their check returned. There will be NO refund in case of cancellation after 2/18/04, unless the spot can be filled by another participant. This presentation is geared towards non-clinical participants who want to learn strategies for helping their children, and does not qualify for continuing education credit.
