2 COMPANY BACKGROUND Basumi Construction Safety Consultancy was established in 2005 with focus on providing Occupational health & safety, Environmental health services, brokerage, securing funding for MIG projects and Drought Relief, provision plant through consultancy and mentorship and training to small, micro and medium enterprises (SMMEs), public sector and large corporate locally and internationally. Our mainstay is in designing and implementing new, customized and efficient methods of Environmental health and safety in a cost effective manner for our clients. We engage and facilitate access to different projects out site South Africa. A level 3 BEE contributor, the company is a member of BCC and National Association of Black Contractors (NABCAT) and GBR /GFFC.
3 MISSION TO PROMOTE, STIMULATE, & ENCOURAGE HIGH STANDARDS OF ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH AND SAFETY IN THE WORK PLACE. Vision Our vision is to increase Environmental health and safety awareness among workers and employers and further reduce the high levels of cooperate accidents in Southern Africa by the year 2030.
4 SCOPE OF SERVICES We offer a broad spectrum of services to: Civil engineering firms and construction project managers Construction and building companies, Municipalities, Manufacturing and production firms, Non-governmental organizations Hospitals and other health institutions Assist with project development and finance. Supply and installations Through our highly competent consultants we render the following: Design and compilation of workplace health and safety plans and/or policies Design and compilation of workplace health & safety rules and systems Design and compilation of community health & safety rules and systems Design & compilation of environmental management plans, EIA, ROD, SCOPING monitoring and waste management Design & compilation of health & safety specifications Conducting risk assessments and designing risk management plans Conducting pre-employment health and safety assessments Conducting safety audits Development & training of safety representatives & staff on accredited courses among including First Aid Level 1 & 2, accident reporting & manual handling Supply of signage, name boards and personal protective equipment, etc.

9 KEY PERSONNEL Frank Oupa Matlala B.Tec.OHS; MSc OHS; MIIRSM MIOSH; Ros Prof Chief Executive Officer Also Chief Health & Safety Consultant, Frank is one of the finest and renowned experts in South Africa and abroad. He spent over 25 years in both construction and medical fields facilitating and promoting health and safety. He holds a Diploma in General nursing and a post basic diploma in Ophthalmic Nursing Science. He has worked for SANCB as a development officer charged with the responsibility of developing and decentralizing eye care service in rural South Africa and the surrounding metro polite. He has participated in numerous research projects including door step surgery at Wits University, Anterior Angle Closure Glaucoma with University of Cape Town, Blindness survey with University of Zululand, Opened Angle Glaucoma University of Pretoria and SMEs compliance with health and safety regulation in Manchester (United Kingdom) and Macula degeneration study in Venda. A holder of B.Tech degree in Occupational Health and Safety, he has had exposure at various companies such as SAB, NISSAN, BMW and Goldfields Mines. In 2000, he read for Safe handling of drugs with Trafford College in Manchester. During this period he was employed in a high risk unit by Meridian Health Care in Tameside (United Kingdom). He holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety and a Master of Science degree in Occupational Health and safety from Salford University (United Kingdom). He studied NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Health and safety from Bolton University (UK). He is a member of International Institute of Risk and Safety Management IIRSM (UK), Institute of Occupational Safety and Health IOSH (UK) and Institute of Occupational Safety Management in South Africa and Procsa.
10 DAVID MOEKETSI CONSULTANT Master of Health (Rural and Remote) at University South Queensland Australia David Moeketsi started in the pharmaceutical industry and later decided to move on to safety. He has completed a diploma and a degree in Pharmaceutical Marketing after which he worked for Transmed as a Pharmacist assistant for more than 5 years. He knew that he had to keep going so he enrolled with University of South Queensland in Australia through which he attained a Master of Health (Rural and Remote) in He is a bonafide co-founder of Institute Status Acres (Independent Combined School) formerly Maluti Modern Institute. He has also worked with the National Centre for Occupational Health (NCOH). With the department for Occupational hygiene he participated in a Community based research, which helped the government and the community overcome some major pollution problem caused by mine waste dump. He is currently employed as a Director and a Health and Safety Consultant at Basumi Construction Safety Consultancy. He has worked for various big organizations and cooperations such as a medical aid scheme for South African railway, airline and port authority employees at Primrose, on the outskirts of Johannesburg. He has currently embarked on a doctoral programme with University of South Africa.
11 CHARLES GUMISAI CHIGURAH B. Sc (Hons) in Geography and Environmental Science Environmental Health Practitioner Charles is the Environmental health practitioner responsible for doing the Environmental impact assessments (EIA), Environmental audits and report compilation, management of asbestos products and industrial waste. He is also a member of International association for Impact Assessment South Africa. He also holds a Pgd. in Water and Sanitation. He is currently studying towards an International Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety with NEBOSH (UK). Before joining us he has worked with Tshikovha Environmental Consulting as a Senior Environmental Consultant where amongst other projects he has worked in the upgrading of Kabokweni stadium, Construction of SASOL Gas Pipeline and the Construction of an Access Road in Odinburg.
12 MPHO MILDRED MOSIA Senior SHE Consultant B.Tech Environmental Health; Implementing ISO 14001; Lead Environmental Auditors Course; Project Management for Public Managers; Environmental Law; Applying SHE Principles; Introduction to Samtrac; Samtrac certificate course. Mpho is the senior SHE Consultant with 8 years in the field of Safety Health and Environment. Her experience is from local and provincial government as an Environmental Officer; higher education institution as a Lab Assistant; Rand Water as a SHE Officer. She is responsible for compiling SHE plans, policies and specifications; conducting risk assessments; workplace inspections and audits and providing specialist advice on SHE matters.
13 SIMI NYATHI B.Admin (PM); B.Com (Hons) Finance & Administration Manager Simi is in charge of the finance & administration and Human Resources Management in the business. She has over 12 years experience spent in accounting and human resources administration, three years of which were spent in the United Kingdom. She oversees the formulation of the company s finance policies, and supervises implementation of finance strategy. She also oversees formulation and implementation of the company s human resource strategy. She holds a B.Admin(Personnel Management) degree and a B.Comm (Hons) in Business Management from the University of Fort Hare. She also holds qualifications in accounting and credit management.
