1 Annual Report Together, making a difference every day CHEDOKE GENERAL JURAVINSKI MCMASTER ST.PETER S URGENT CARE

2 Message from the Volunteer Association We are pleased to report that has been another successful year for the Hamilton Health Sciences Volunteer Association (HHSVA). Through our business operations and fundraising efforts we donated over $13 million to Hamilton Health Sciences (HHS) in support of our mission to enhance patient care. In addition to our financial contributions, we also celebrated the opening of our two newest food service locations, the Sunnyside Café at the Ron Joyce Children s Health Centre and the Maplewood Café at St. Peter s, as well as successfully completing key improvements to infrastructure in our parking areas. Brian Johnston President, HHSVA Board of Directors Tina Cooper Executive Director, HHSVA As a result of the funds raised, we were able to donate many patient care items including $577,756 for the purchase of capital equipment such as the portable ultrasound unit profiled in this report. In addition to these capital donations we also provided $224,995 in funding for the purchase of patient services items, such as wheelchairs, therapy tools, furnishings and walkers, and supported patient programs such as Therapeutic Recreation. We are very proud to be able to provide funding for these and many other important equipment items and programs that have a direct impact on the quality of care provided at HHS. The successes we experience as an organization are the result of a synergy between the hard work of our dedicated team of staff, volunteers and board of directors members, and the loyal support of our customers. Each day thousands of customers shop in our areas and park at HHS, helping to us to fulfil our mission with every purchase they make. Our team is driven to provide excellence in customer service. From cafeterias and Give Shops, to parking and catering services, they strive to bring moments of compassion, care and laughter to the work they do. Together we bring the HHSVA closer to achieving our vision of Best Support for Patient Care which is something we can all be proud of. Message from Hamilton Health Sciences Over the past year Hamilton Health Sciences has been working to create a vision of care we ll provide for the next five, 10 and 20 years, called Our Healthy Future. Increasingly, our patients and families expect us to deliver a seamless health care experience. We can best do that by working together to ensure people receive the right care in the right place at the right time. Rob MacIsaac President & CEO, HHS In providing care to our communities, we are so fortunate to have a longstanding and outstanding partnership with our Hamilton Health Sciences Volunteer Association. Through the proceeds generated by your shops and services, the HHSVA provides critical support to our family of hospitals and specialized facilities. In the past year alone, your hard work resulted in more than $13 million which allowed us to purchase important equipment, upgrade our facilities, fund staff education and much more. You also provide valuable funding support to the volunteer program at HHS. HHS is well known for its high quality of care. It is a distinct point of pride for us at HHS that more than 1,000 volunteers play such an important role in that excellent care, which adds comfort and support to our patients, families and staff in countless ways. Congratulations to the Volunteer Association at Hamilton Health Sciences for another highly successful year. I would like to thank you very sincerely for your unwavering commitment to HHS and our patients and families, which helps us achieve our vision of Best Care for All. Please know that you are making an incredible difference every day.
