2 QUEEN S CRESCENT SURGERY TERMS AND CONDITIONS Job Title: Practice Nurse Grade: Agenda for Change Band 6 26,041-34,876 per annum (pro rata, if applicable) Salary: Notice: Probation Period: Progression through the Agenda for Change salary scale will be subject to competency assessment through the Agenda for Change Knowledge and Skills Framework Bands 1-5 = 4 weeks notice Bands 6-7 = 8 weeks notice Band 8 + = 12 weeks notice 6 months Hours: Annual Leave: Superannuation Scheme: Other Terms and Conditions: 24 hours per week Annual leave entitlements are based upon the following lengths of NHS/Healthcare service (pro rata if applicable): On Appointment = 27 days After five years = 29 days After ten years = 33 days Membership of the Scottish Public Pensions Agency (SPPA) is voluntary. 3 Job Advertisement Join our expanding and forward thinking surgery delivering high quality care in the Glasgow Area. We are looking to recruit a passionate Practice Nurse on a permanent basis, who can demonstrate initiative and self-motivation within our current nursing team of 2 Practice Nurses. We are envisaging the role will be for 24 hours per week, however, this will be confirmed at the first interview stage. The successful candidate(s) will be capable of managing their own workload and preferably have experience in primary care. Standard practice nursing duties will include (but not be limited to) carrying out venepuncture, B.P.s, ear syringing, dressings and immunisations. Experience of the GMS contract, QoF, Enhanced Services, EMIS and Docman would be advantageous. Days and hours are flexible in line with the surgery s needs, although these will be reviewed regularly. General Practice experience is advantageous but not essential. In return we fully support study and personal development and offer a competitive salary dependent on skills and experience. PHYSICAL EFFORT Combination of sitting, standing, walking / frequent light effort for several short periods: Highly developed physical skills involving manual dexterity; clinical examination, screening and treatment skills; IT skills. 8. MENTAL EFFORT Frequent concentration, work pattern predictable: Concentration for patient history and assessment including documentation when only a short appointment time is given. Unscheduled patients being fitted in to Surgery Appointments without prior warning. Working daily with patients registered in the practice from diverse, ethnic, social and intellectual backgrounds. Interruptions from telephone, or persons requiring entry to a room for equipment etc. on a daily basis. The ability to act expediently and appropriately in responding to crisis situations. Ongoing requirement for continual updating and learning of techniques in practice including audit and IT skills. 9. EMOTIONAL EFFORT Occasional / frequent distressing or emotional circumstances: Occasional verbal and physical aggression. Communicating with distressed, anxious patients and carers. Communicating with patients and carers, from diverse, ethnic, social and intellectual backgrounds. 9 11. MOST CHALLENGING PART OF THE JOB Delivering highly specialised and individualised nursing care including the running of specialist clinics. The postholder is required to ensure they meet their requirements as outlined by their professional registered body in relation to personal and professional development. The postholder will frequently provide and receive complex and sensitive information which may prove troublesome to process due to barriers in understanding this information.
