Daniel Nigrin, MD, MS, Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer, Division of Endocrinology, Boston Children s Hospital; Assistant Professor of Pediatrics, Harvard Medical School 10:00 a.m. Break Dr. Nigrin will review the course of events that began when Boston Children s Hospital endured a cyber attack by the hacktivist group Anonymous. Panel members will discuss incidents that occurred in their facilities/communities, how their organization responded and lessons learned from the incidents. Audience members will also be given time to discuss their personal accounts of incidents from their facility/community. 11:20 a.m. Lunch (provided) and Networking 12:00 noon Preparedness & You Andrew Hradesky, HPP Training & Exercise Coordinator, Arkansas Dept of Health, Little Rock 1:30 p.m. Break This interactive session will provide attendees with how to prepare for disasters in your facility and at home. Agency emergency plans with drills and exercises, how the agency responds, the needs for personal emergency plans and your role in potential disasters will all be described. Attendees will also be given information on how to gain additional emergency preparedness training. 1:45 p.m. Cybersecurity Incident Response: How to be a Survivor Tom Walsh, CISSP, Founder and Managing Partner, tw-security, Overland Park, Kansas Bad things happen. It s not the event, but your reaction to the event that will determine the survival of an organization s reputation. Are you confident that you and your staff would know how to properly respond to a cybersecurity incident or breach? The traditional focus of information security is data, applications and systems through safeguards and controls applied to people, processes and technology. Cybersecurity focuses on anything interconnected through/to the Internet. Cybersecurity extends the boundaries to include other computer controlled systems including building controls (heating/ac, air handlers, water chillers, etc.), cars, surveillance systems and just about any appliance that uses the word smart in its title (smart TVs, smart stove, etc). Targeted cyber-attacks to health care organizations are on the rise. Regardless of the type of breach,

3 the basic response steps could be applied to almost any type of incident. Implementing a well-defined response process is critically important, particularly for creating a legally defensible position. During this two-hour session, we will review the response process while sharing lessons learned through years of experience. Hesselgesser, U.S. Public Health Service, Health Services Officer, Laboratory Consultant, Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments Program, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, Region VI Dallas This session will provide attendees guidance on the regulations that must be implemented and compiled within one year after the November 16, 2017 effective date. 11:00 a.m. Lunch (provided) and Networking 11:45 a.m. U.S. Department of Homeland Security: What Does Health Care Need to Know? Chad Johnston, Protective Security Advisor Arkansas District, U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Office of Infrastructure Protection, Little Rock 1:15 p.m. Break This session will provide attendees with information regarding the U.S. Department of Homeland Security s (DHS) Protective Security Advisors, the Infrastructure Protection Assessment Program, hospital security past and present, as well as trends in hospital preparedness and security. Terrorism tactics and corresponding protective measures for critical infrastructure will be covered including recent terrorist plots that have been disrupted by DHS. 1:30 p.m. Arkansas Mobile Hospital: Concept of Operations Jody Carter, MS, CEM, NREMT-P, Emergency Preparedness Coordinator, Baptist Health, Little Rock Arkansas has three mobile hospitals available around the state to help respond to emergency situations. This session will give attendees an update on the concept of operations for the use of these mobile hospitals. 2:00 p.m. New Madrid Seismic Zone Catastrophic Operations Plan Aaron Adams, Associate Branch Chief for Preparedness and Response, Trauma, Preparedness and EMS Branch, Arkansas Department of Health, Little Rock On March 13, 2017, the planning cycle to revise the Arkansas health and medical services components to the New Madrid Seismic Zone (NMSZ) Catastrophic Operations Plan will begin. Since 2007, several full-scale and functional exercises have been conducted; as the exercises have progressed and been completed, the strategies for dealing with the immediate response efforts (the first 7 days of the response) have been revisited. This planning cycle will go through April 2018 and culminate with a full-scale exercise (TBD). This session will review the priorities, goals and objectives for the combined health and medical response to a NMSZ event that were set forth on March 13. 3:00 p.m. Evaluation and Adjournment

4 Faculty Spotlight - Names You May Not Know Captain Daniel Hesselgesser currently serves as a Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) regional laboratory consultant, charged with ensuring 36,586 laboratories in Region VI are in compliance with the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA). He is a national laboratory services subject matter expert with multiple national and international standard and guideline publications with the Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute to include emergency response and laboratory testing. He currently serves as the Region VI Regional Incident Support Team team commander a well as a member of the Region VI HHS and CMS emergency response and preparedness teams. Captain Hesselgesser also serves as the National CLIA Lead for the United States Coast Guard and assistant secretary for preparedness and response laboratory systems worldwide. He has been deployed over 10 times in the past 18 years both nationally and internationally for emergency response dealing with public health and medical ESF-8 functions. In his current role, Captain Hesselgesser provides expert advice and consultation based upon knowledge of quality practices in clinical laboratory services as defined by federal regulation. He provides professional advice to staff reviewing the case files of state certification agency surveys, helping staff in identifying deficiencies and recommending appropriate solutions. In addition, Captain Hesselgesser performs and leads direct surveys of certified health facilities and laboratories to validate state survey agency activities and to evaluate the effectiveness of federal regulations, policies and procedures. With his considerable expertise, Captain Hesselgesser is sought out by state agencies, as well as providers, to provide expert interpretation of guidelines and procedures as well as professional advice on laboratory testing and services under CLIA. Daniel J. Nigrin, MD, MS is the senior vice president and chief information officer at Boston Children s Hospital and the assistant professor of pediatrics at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Nigrin is a senior staff member of the Children s Hospital Informatics Program (CHIP) and an active and practicing member of the Division of Pediatric Endocrinology at Boston Children s Hospital. As chief information officer, Dr. Nigrin is responsible for all clinical, research, teaching and administrative IT systems. As a practicing physician, medical informatics researcher and information technology executive, he is in an unique position to put into practice cutting edge technologies and ideas developed by CHIP and other biomedical informatics centers of excellence, bringing advances to patient care practice, quality and research while simultaneously keeping in mind the needs and workflows of busy clinicians. Gerardo Ortiz, MHSM has served as the associate regional administrator for the Dallas Division of Survey & Certification (DSC) with Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) since The division is responsible for the survey and certification of new and existing Medicare institutional providers & suppliers and CLIA laboratories, investigating complaints against providers and taking enforcement actions against providers when federal requirements are not met. The division also has oversight of Dallas Region VI State Agencies responsible for surveying Medicare providers and assures the continuity of care in disasters. Gerardo began his career with HCFA (now CMS) in November 2000 in the Division of Medicaid and State Operations where he worked on Home and Community Based Services Waivers, Medicaid Eligibility and the State Children s Health Insurance Program. In 2005, he moved to the Division of Survey and Certification and worked as the state representative for Oklahoma and New Mexico. Gerardo became the manager of the Long-Term Care Certification and Enforcement Branch within DSC in 2008 and was responsible for Medicare certification and enforcement for a five-state region involving over 2000 long-term care providers in Region VI. Gerardo received his undergraduate degree in psychology from Texas A&M University and his Masters of Health Services Management from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. Tom Walsh, CISSP, tw-security founder and managing partner, is a nationally recognized expert in health care information security and a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP). Tom is a well-known leader and educator in health care information security. In addition to numerous articles, he has co-authored four books published by the American Medical Association, American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) and Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) as well as presented at the HIMSS Annual Conference, the largest health IT event in the industry, for 15 years. He is also an active member and contributor to HIMSS and AHIMA at both local and national levels. Tom has over 24 years of information security experience. In addition to leading tw-security, Tom has been the information security consultant for several health care organizations including hospitals and business associates. Prior to starting his health care consulting business in 2003, Tom s experience included being the first information security manager for a large, multi-hospital health care system in Kansas City.

5 Continuing Education Credit Many national, state and local licensing boards and professional organizations will grant continuing education credit for attendance at this seminar when participants submit the course outline (save this brochure!) and a Certificate of Attendance. The Certificate of Attendance will be provided to participants at the conclusion of the forum. It is recommended that participants contact their own board or organization to find out what is required. It is recommended that participants contact hospital disaster preparedness coordinators and/or regional leaders to determine if HHS grant training funds are available to pay the registration fee. Use of the training funds for this purpose is permitted. (The AHA is fortunate to offer the reduced registration fee due to financial support from the HHS Hospital Preparedness Grant Funds.) Refund/Cancellation Policy If cancellations are received in writing five business days prior to the date of the workshop, a full refund will be returned. If cancellations are received less than five business days prior to the date of the workshop, a refund minus a $50 administrative fee will be refunded. Registrants who cancel the day of the program or fail to attend must pay the entire fee. Substitutions, however, are permitted. Registrations that are faxed are subject to the same cancellation policy. (Note: All cancellations must be received in writing by the registrar.)
