UNIVERSITY OF TOLEDO ACCME Accreditor This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of The University of Toledo and the Ohio Dermatological Association. The University of Toledo is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. The University of Toledo designates this live activity for a maximum of 15 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. Physicians should claim only credits commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. If you need to receive a certificate of participation to receive your AOA credits, please notify Jill (odaexec@ohderm.org) ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION AND TARGET AUDIENCE The target audience for this meeting includes dermatologists in private/group practice, academicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners. This educational activity will provide updates on the latest medical knowledge available from medical literature, clinical experience, and research. The selection of speakers has been designed to cover knowledge and practice gaps of attendees in the areas of general medicine updates, treatment guidelines, practice guidelines, new medications and their use, clinical overlap of medical specialties, and legislative issues affecting the specialty of dermatology. MEETING REGISTRATION Please review the registration form closely. Separate registration is required for the General Session and MOC Sessions. One must register for the General Session in order to attend the MOC modules. ALSO, please be sure to indicate your selection of a printed syllabus or WiFi. This year, there will be a $35 charge with your registration for a printed syllabus. Please complete the registration form in its entirety; a confirmation will be sent via . EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES At the conclusion of this learning activity, the attendees should be able to: Identify strategies for management of oral precancerous lesions Review indications of biopsy and biopsy techniques Review the diagnostic criteria for this heterogeneous group of cicatricial alopecias Assist the dermatologist in the evaluation of the ciatricial alopecias Enhance and improve the evaluation of the hair loss patient Recognize the future medical risk that the hair loss patient might develop Review practical considerations and adequate evaluation of histological specimens Review clinical and histologic correlations of difficult inflammatory processes Interpret procedural coding Interpret modifiers Recognize fungal infection Recognize bacterial infection Assess the negative impact that poorly controlled psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis has on patient quality of life Describe the mechanism of action, efficacy, and safety profiles of new and emerging treatment options for psoriatic disease Manage delusional patients interpersonally Manage delusional patients pharmacologically Enhance patient satisfaction for difficult patients seen in dermatology Review the value-based reimbursement system, which is expected to start January 1st, 2017 for all practitioners Enhance the patient experience during local anesthesia Enhance surgical outcomes for standard surgical excisions Recognize skin manifestations of common infestations such as scabies, head lice and bedbugs Identify medical consequences of arthropod assaults including mosquitos, ticks, spiders and mites Provide histological correlation to dermoscopic features Distinguish between melanocytic and nonmelanocytic lesions using dermoscopic features Describe the 2016 CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services) proposed rule on tying Medicare provider payments to quality patient care effective January 2019 Describe the importance of accurate data collection and AAD s DataDerm DISCLOSURE Commercial support for the program and faculty relationships within the industry will be disclosed at the event. The 2016 Program Planning Committee will review all presentations in compliance with the ACCME Essential Areas and Policies. Speakers will also state when off-label or experimental drugs or devices are incorporated in their presentations.
