2 The MS Statewide ESF8 Healthcare Coalition and the 9-Planning Coalitions Definition: A collaborative network of healthcare organizations working in conjunction with Emergency Management and respective public and private sector response partners to serve as a multi-agency coordinating (MAC) to assist with preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation activities related to healthcare organization disaster operations.

3 The MS Statewide ESF8 Healthcare Coalition and the 9-Planning Coalitions Purpose: The Healthcare Coalition and Planning Coalitions, working in conjunction with Emergency Management, provide a healthcare system-wide approach to prepare for, respond to, and recover from incidents that have a public health and medical impact in the short and long-term.

9 MS Statewide ESF8 Healthcare Coalition (MEHC) Purpose: During larger responses, provide state agencies and state-wide associations with accurate and up-to-date information, to anticipate needs and make recommendations to their local members being impacted and to be informed as they work with their county Emergency Manager.

10 MS Statewide ESF8 Healthcare Coalition (MEHC) Process: The MEHC is activated when public health and medical services are impacted by an emergency and when: The Public Health Command Center (PHCC) is activated or when, Requested by the Director of State MS Dept. of Health (MSDH), Office of Emergency Planning and Response (OEPR)
