1 Kappa Rho-at-large Chapter Request for 2015 Research Proposals Kappa Rho-at-large Chapter, Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, announces requests funding opportunity for research proposals in nursing. This call is issued to further the Chapter's goal of fostering and encouraging nursing research to advance the scientific basis of nursing. Two awards of $1000 each will be awarded to qualified applicants. A broad range of topics will be considered. Funding recommendations will be made primarily based on the scientific merit of the application and the proposed value of the investigation to nursing. Criteria for application include: 1. Applicant must be a member of Kappa Rho-at-large Chapter, Sigma Theta Tau, International. 2. Applicant must be able to provide verification of request for approval from an appropriate Human Rights Protection Committee. Funds cannot be awarded until approval is received. 3. Applicant must be willing to sign the research project agreement form. 4. Awardees are required to give a presentation of their research at the 2015 Research Day at ATU. 2 Kappa Rho-at-Large Chapter Guidelines for Research Grant Award Purpose of Research Grant Program The Kappa Rho-at-large Chapter desires to foster interest in nursing research and advance the scientific base for nursing practice. Application Instructions 1. Applications must be received by April 3, Applicants for nursing research projects must meet the following criteria: a. Attend the 2014 spring business meeting on April 10, 2015 following Research Day at ATU to receive the award; b. be a member Kappa Rho at Large Chapter, Sigma Theta Tau; c. be able to provide verification of approval from an appropriate Human Rights Protection Committee. Application can be submitted before final IRB approval is obtained, but funds will not be released until final approval; d. be willing to sign a research project agreement form; and e. be willing to present research at the 2016 Research Day at ATU. 3. Procedure a. Submit three (3) copies of the following materials: (1) Complete application form (2) Research proposal In two pages or less, state the research problem/question or hypothesis, purpose and/or objectives, methodology including design, sample, data collection instruments, and proposed statistical procedures. (3) Biosketch of the applicant

3 (4) Budget The enclosed budget form should be completed and attached to the application. (5) Letter of approval from appropriate committees and/or agencies, as needed, to begin the project. (6) Signed Research Grant Agreement Form. b. The primary investigator will receive the funds and assume responsibility for the conduct of the research. 5. Budget Restrictions a. Travel funds are limited to the collection of data. Grant monies may not be used to fund trips to conferences or pay consultants.

7 Kappa Rho Chapter at Large Research Grant Agreement If the Sigma Theta Tau, Kappa Rho-at-large Chapter funds my proposal, I agree to: 1. Use the research grant monies as described in the application and return any excess funds to the Kappa Rho Chapter at Large treasurer. 2. Submit a progress report if the project is not finished on the projected completion date and request an extension, if necessary 3. Acknowledge the assistance of Sigma Theta Tau, Kappa Rho Chapter at Large in an appropriate way when presenting or publishing research findings 5. Submit an abstract for the 2015 Research Day at ATU for presentation of my research. 6. To accept responsibility for monies awarded for the research project as a result of this application 7.
