We are the biggest children s nursing department in the UK and currently support just under 1,000 students studying pre-registration children s nursing programmes at degree and postgraduate levels, as well as a range of post-registration, CPD and postgraduate programmes. We run the only Masters in children s advanced nursing practice course in the UK. JOB SUMMRY The clinical practice facilitator/lecturer in children s nursing will be supporting the existing newly qualified nurse rotation and will be expected to develop a new and exciting Band 5 rotation programme, to be delivered across all three sites. You will work collaboratively with the paediatric development team and senior manager s to deliver effective, high quality and safe patient centred care. S/he will support staff on continuing education, training and professional development to promote the acquisition of new skills and knowledge. She/he will be part of the development of an education programme to ensure that nursing staff acquire the professional standards and competencies when caring for people. The clinical practice facilitator will: nsure that mandatory training requirements are fulfilled and that staff education and development is aligned to staff appraisal and corporate, divisional, ward and service development needs. 5 Management and leadership responsibilities To facilitate and coordinate the Childrens services rotation programme. To establish and maintain effective working relations with all members of the multidisciplinary team and relevant clinical areas to promote good communication and a multidisciplinary approach to patient care. To assist in clinical audits ensuring they are submitted within the agreed time scale. To contribute to the development of clinical practice polices and guidelines and evidencebased practice as appropriate. To liaise with other hospital staff and departments to promote and maintain effective working relationships, ensuring high standards of care and service. To participate in the recruitment and selection of nursing staff. To be an effective mentor and preceptor and support other ward staff in performing this role. To contribute to staff development through the Trust appraisal / personal development plan To assist the ward manager and PDN with identification and provision of learning needs of poorly performing staff. ducational responsibilities To plan, organise and assist staff in working towards their professional objectives and competencies. To support staff to achieve a portfolio of competency based skills that reflect the needs of the clinical area. To participate in formal and informal teaching and training for local and Trust wide developments. To monitor accurate electronic records of post registration course uptake and outcome of students results and take appropriate action where staff do not complete/are not successful.
