SYSTEMATIC PLAN FOR PROGRAM EVALUATION AND ASSESSMENT OF OUTCOMES NLNAC - Criterion 5 OBN Definition: NLNAC - members (full and part time) are academically and experientially qualified and maintain expertise in their areas of responsibility. OBN - Minimum qualifications and preparation for administrative, faculty and instructional personnel meet qualifications as determined by the Board. Education Level Master s Degree with major in Nursing Rationale for acceptance of other than a Masters Degree Expertise and Maintenance of same in areas of reaching, service, clinical practice, and / or scholarship nel Files Curriculum Vitae Plan of study for BSN to MSN faculty Data Sheets evaluation materials submitted yearly Level of Achievement: At least100% of full time faculty are prepared at the Master s Level and have experience in their primary teaching responsibility. Those who are not prepared at Master s level are currently completing Master s programs and have a plan of study on file with the Director. 100% of part time adjunct faculty posses an undergraduate degree with a major in nursing. 100 % of faculty are licensed to practice nursing in the State of Ohio Associate Dean and Chaiar Yearly and as new faculty are hired Done in conjunction with yearly evaluations : Review of personnel files and vitae. 6 NLNAC - Criterion 6 OBN ,19 & 20 Definition: NLNAC - Number and utilization of full and part-time faculty meets the needs of the nursing education unit to fulfill its purpose. OBN - The faculty meet qualifications and job tasks as set forth by the Board. teaching a nursing course shall provide a syllabus or outline, design and implement teaching strategies that will assist the nursing student to meet the course objectives, and evaluate each nursing student s achievement and progress. will plan the clinical experiences and supervise and evaluate the student s clinical performance. Level of Achievement: workload will not exceed standards set for all full time college faculty. /Student ratios will be maintained at no more than 1:50 in the classroom and 1:8 in clinical. Ratio of full time to part time will be no more than 2: 1 (2 full time to 1 part time) /Student Ratios in the classroom and supervised clinical practice are sufficient to insure adequate teaching, supervision, and evaluation. 7 NLNAC - Criterion 7 OBN (I) Definition: NLNAC - performance is periodically evaluated to assure ongoing development and competence OBN - the administrator of the program shall establish a written policy related to the evaluation of faculty, instructional personnel, and staff, and shall implement the policy as written. Level of Achievement: 100 % of faculty are evaluated on a yearly basis according to the policies of the governing institution Process for Performance Evaluation Evaluation of faculty is in keeping with the mission and philosophy of the nursing education unit and includes areas such as: teaching, scholarship, service and practice. 8 NLNAC - Criterion 8 Definition: NLNAC The collective talents of the faculty reflect scholarship through teaching, application, and the integration and discovery of knowledge as defined by the institution and the nursing education unit. Level of Achievement: >80% of faculty (full time) will demonstrate involvement in a variety of experiences that enhance and improve the delivery of the overall nursing program. 9 III. Students: The teaching and learning environment is conducive to student academic achievement. Level of Achievement: Comparison of the policies has shown that all policies of the nursing unit are in congruence with those of the governing institution. 10 NLNAC - Criterion 10 OBN Definition: NLNAC - Students have access to support services, administered by qualified individuals that include, but are not limited to: health, counseling, academic advisement, career placement, and financial aid. OBN - Policies shall exist that speak to health services, guidance and counseling services. Level of Achievement: 90% of students surveyed report having access to all support services that are available to general student population. All individuals providing student services are educationally and experientially qualified. 11 NLNAC - Criterion 11 OBN Definition: NLNAC Policies concerned with educational and financial records are established and followed. OBN - The administrator of the program shall develop and maintain a record retention plan which includes all elements as specified in Board rules. Level of Achievement: Records surveyed are maintained according to written policy. 12 IV. Curriculum and Instruction: The curriculum is designed to accomplish its educational and related purposes. SYSTEMATIC PLAN FOR PROGRAM EVALUATION AND ASSESSMENT OF OUTCOMES NLNAC - Criterion 12 OBN Definition: NLNAC - Curriculum developed by nursing faculty flows from the nursing education unit philosophy and mission through an organized framework into a logical progression of course outcomes and learning activities to achieve desired program objectives/outcomes. OBN - The curriculum for a professional nursing education program shall be implemented by the administrator and faculty as written and shall include all elements identified by the Board. Level of Achievement: The curriculum is based on a stable organizing framework. Relationship of Philosophy and mission to the program outcomes is easily demonstrated. 13 NLNAC - Criterion 13 OBN (C) Definition: NLNAC - design provides opportunities for students to achieve program objectives and acquire knowledge, skills, values, and competencies necessary for nursing practice. OBN - Curriculum that spans a minimum of two academic or calendar years of full time study. Consists of a total number of units of credit or clock hours in the curriculum areas set forth in the Board rules to ensure sufficient preparation for the safe and effective practice of nursing as a registered nurse. Level of Achievement: 50% of total students entering complete program in 5 semesters. 60% of total students complete in 1-1 ½ times the program length. Curriculum provides: knowledge and skill sets in current practice, community concepts, health care delivery, critical thinking, communications, therapeutic interventions, and current trends in health care. leads to development of professional ethics, values, and accountability. Student can achieve objectives in established program length. 14 NLNAC - Criterion 14 OBN (C) Definition: NLNAC - Practice learning environments are selected and monitored by faculty and provide opportunities for a variety of learning options appropriate for contemporary nursing. OBN - Nursing science is related to nursing practice in a variety of settings where health care can occur. Learning environments Agreements and contracts with practice sites are current and specify expectations and responsibilities for all parties. Clinical resources support sufficient numbers and varieties of associate degree level experiences. SYSTEMATIC PLAN FOR PROGRAM EVALUATION AND ASSESSMENT OF OUTCOMES NLNAC - Criterion 15 OBN (B-1) (C-4) Definition: NLNAC - The fiscal resources are sufficient to support the nursing education unit purposes and are commensurate with resources of the governing organization. OBN - The program administrator provides input into the budget process. Level of Achievement: 1. Fiscal resources are adequate to support the nursing program. 2. are sufficient in number to achieve the program outcomes. Fiscal allocations & resources Responsibility and authority of the nurse administrator and involvement of the nursing faculty in budget preparations are evident. Students will rate library resources as current, available and accessible. 2. Software and hardware are available and accessible to student and faculty. 3. Nursing faculty will collaborate annually on requested resources. 4. Students will rate the skills lab as current, available and accessible. 5. The Student Success Center is available to support the goals/objectives of the nursing program. Instructional aids, technology, software and hardware, and technical support available and sufficient to meet program objectives and support teaching methods. SYSTEMATIC PLAN FOR PROGRAM EVALUATION AND ASSESSMENT OF OUTCOMES 19 - NLNAC OBN (A-D) Definition: NLNAC Information about the program, intended to inform the general public, prospective students, current students, employers, and other interested parties is current, accurate, clear and consistent. OBN- The administrator of the program and faculty shall establish and implement policies concerning admission, progression, graduation and grading. Published documents about the program are current, accurate, clear and consistent. Information to include: Mission, Philosophy and Purpose, Licensing requirements, Academic calendar, Student services, length, tuition and fees, financial aid. Policies to include: Admission, Nondiscrimination, academic progression, grading, retention, dismissal, graduation requirements, recruitment, advanced placement, College Catalog handbook College Handbook Course syllabi Web site Brochures and Publications Level of Achievement: Admission requirement policies, satisfactory academic calendar, course descriptions, grading policies, and grievance mechanisms are consistent and included in publicly accessible publications. 100% of the documents containing information about the program and policies are current, factual and consistent. Students are informed of their ethical responsibilities regarding financial assistance. SYSTEMATIC PLAN FOR PROGRAM EVALUATION AND ASSESSMENT OF OUTCOMES NLNAC - Criterion 22 OBN Definition: NLNAC There is a written plan for systematic program evaluation that is used for continuous program improvement. OBN A written systematic plan of evaluation shall be established by the administrator of a program and shall include data collected from faculty, instructional personnel, nursing students, graduates and employers of graduates. Level of Achievement: The faculty of the nursing program will implement the systematic evaluation plan and revise the individual components based on ongoing re-assessment data collected at the designated frequency.
