This document provides basic information about the course for CPP20212 Certificate II in Security Operations, including how you will be assessed and how to make your interaction with the Security Training Department more enjoyable. 4 About this course The CPP20212 Certificate II in Security Operations qualification is part of the Property Service Training Package. It aims to provide participants with the knowledge and skills required to provide services, including crowd control and unarmed guarding. The course covers legislation relevant to the industry, communication skills, customer service, teamwork, first aid, managing intoxicated persons, reporting security incidents, occupational health and safety, basic restraints, and emergency procedures. After successfully completing this qualification, graduates fulfil the requisites to apply for a security licence through Victoria Police, with the sub activities of Crowd Controller and Unarmed Guard. ID=109 The CPP20212 Certificate II in Security Operations is a nationally recognised qualification. Packaging rules for CPP20212 Certificate II in Security Operations require 12 units (7 core units, 5 elective units) to be completed. 7 additional units are required to meet the Victoria Police licensing requirements for Combined Unarmed Guard and Crowd Controller licensing as specified here: ID=

7 Duration of the Course The estimated duration of the course is 18 working days. Application Applicants are required to complete the following enrolment process: 1. Attend an information session. 2. Successfully complete a Language, Literacy & Numeracy Assessment. 3. Complete a Crown Training Enrolment Form. 4. Complete a payment form, and make payment in full*. Once you have completed this process, we will give you a payment receipt as confirmation of your enrolment and payment. * Payment due 5 days prior to commencement of the course - an invoice will be raised outlining payment methods. Costs The cost of this course is $ which includes: Certificate II in Security Operations (Unarmed Guard and Crowd Control) units First Aid Restraint/Self Defence Training Study Requirements The CPP20212 Certificate II in Security Operations course can be a challenging course as it requires participants to perform physical elements and assessments. Students will be required to complete a variety of physical activities, including the restraints of individuals, of varying body shapes and sizes. 7
8 Withdrawal and Refund Policy Crown Training Pty Ltd is committed to the fair and transparent application of fees and charges, including the processing of refunds. All applicants are provided with details of all fees and charges and information of the refund policy prior to enrolment. Scope This policy applies to the refund of fees paid for the delivery of courses to local students. You are entitled to a refund if: Crown Training Pty Ltd cancels a course Where Crown Training Pty Ltd cancels a course, a full refund including Course Fee and any Materials Fee will be offered, subject to all materials being returned to Crown Training in their original condition. Crown Training will make every effort to reschedule the course and offer an alternative place to the student. The student is not obliged to accept alternative offers and may request a full refund instead. Withdrawal prior to course commencement Where a student provides written notice of withdrawal more than 5 working days prior to the course commencement date, they are entitled to a refund of the full course fees. 8
9 Withdrawal for medical reasons Where a student obtains a medical certificate prior to the commencement of the course stating they are unable to participate in the course for medical reasons, the student may either defer their course commencement with the Course Fee being transferred to the deferred course, or apply for a refund of 80% of the Course Fee. Where a student obtains a medical certificate after the course has commenced stating they are unable to participate in the course for medical reasons, the student may either defer their course commencement with the course fee being transferred to the deferred course or withdraw. Notification of withdrawal and requests for refunds Withdrawals and refund requests must be submitted in writing and sent to Crown College either by mail (venue address is located on Page 2) or via to crowncollegerto@crownmelbourne.com.au. All requests for refunds will be dealt with in accordance with this Withdrawal and Refund Policy and the decision of Crown Training Pty Ltd will be final, subject to any right to appeal stated in this policy. All fees are collected by Crown Melbourne Ltd and any applicable refunds are provided via Crown Melbourne Ltd. All refunds are paid via a cheque. Withdrawal after course commencement There is no refund entitlement after course commencement. Where a student s enrolment is cancelled by Crown Training Pty Ltd due to a breach of the Code of Conduct by the student no refund will be provided. A student has the right to appeal the decision to cancel enrolment due to a breach of the Code of Conduct. Please refer to your Student Information Handbook for details regarding the Complaints and Appeals Policy. 9

We strongly urge you to report any incidents of this nature to the relevant trainer, or use the Complaints and Appeals process. 10
11 Your obligations You are required to: Attend all sessions in the training program Lead or actively participate in group discussions and presentations during the training Complete all assessment tasks and submit them by the given deadlines Provide feedback to the facilitators and course organisers to help improve the design and delivery of the course. Commitment to your training In particular, we require you to: Display a commitment to learning and to achieving success Be responsible and accountable for your own learning, behaviour, and decisions Actively participate in all activities and learning experiences, such as group discussions, role-plays, games, answering questions Report to class promptly each day, ready and willing to actively participate. Be accountable for your punctuality and attendance. Punctuality and Attendance It is your responsibility to arrive on time each day of the course and attend for the duration of the session. If you are unable to attend, or if you are delayed, please contact Crown Security Training on as soon as possible, and leave a message for your trainer/assessor. Behaviour We ask that you always: Use acceptable language and be polite: verbal abuse, offensive language, and other forms of disrespect are unacceptable and will not be tolerated Take pride in your personal appearance and dress standards, and wear attire that is suitable for a business environment. Crown College reserves the right to send home students who are inappropriately dressed Respect the rights and opinions of other students Treat others as you would like to be treated 11
12 Accessing and using training facilities While you are completing your studies at Crown College: Stay within the designated areas, and do not distract other classes or groups Value and care for all Crown property Do not enter any of Crown s Licensed Gaming areas unless required as part of training. Do not remain in restricted training areas. While you are at Crown College training premises, you must: Observe safety regulations Wear required safety clothing and footwear during classes and work placements Use any safety equipment that the course requires You may be refused entry to a class or work placement if you are not wearing the appropriate safety clothing and footwear or fail to follow OH&S procedures. Changes to Personal Details You must notify your trainer or Crown College Reception if there is a change to any of the following details: Name Address Phone number Other relevant details, such as Emergency Contact. This will ensure that you receive correspondence promptly and that we contact the appropriate person if the event of an emergency. 12
13 Security You must follow the training venue s security requirements, including those relating to restricted access to areas within the training venue, and emergency procedures. Please do not leave valuables unattended, as Crown College does not take responsibility for items that are lost or stolen. Sexual Harassment It is unlawful for anyone to be sexually harassed in employment, accommodation, education, or in the provision of goods or services. Crown College is committed to providing an environment that is free of sexual harassment. Sexual harassment includes unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favours and other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature. Verbal and physical conduct includes jokes, words, or gestures that create an offensive or hostile environment. If you feel that you have been subjected to sexual harassment, contact your trainer or assessor, or refer to the Complaints and Appeals policy to find out how to lodge a complaint. Smoking Smoking is permitted only in the designated smoking areas. Occupational Health and Safety All Crown Training courses include information on occupational health and safety relevant to your training. If you have any questions about safety, please ask any Crown College staff member, who will be happy to help. Crown Melbourne has on-site First Aid staff if required. Accidents and First Aid If you experience an accident or injury, please notify your trainer/assessor immediately for a First Aid assessment. You must report all accidents, injuries, or near misses to your trainer/assessor immediately. Drugs, Alcohol & Substance Abuse To ensure a safe and enjoyable working environment for everyone, Crown College prohibits the use of alcohol and illicit substances during training and work hours, or at any time when: such use will result in your training being adversely affected; and/or your safety or that of others could be put at risk. Crown College reserves the right to refuse entry to any student who is considered to be under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs, or impaired by other drugs. Medical/Disability Issues If you have any medical or disability issues that you feel the course facilitators should be aware of, please advise Crown College as soon as possible. This will enable us to more properly cater for your special needs. Fire and Evacuation Procedure Crown College uses many venues, each of which has specific emergency and evacuation procedures. When you start your course, you will be provided with the relevant fire and evacuation procedures. Please read these procedures so that you know what to do in the case of an emergency. 13

15 Assessment Guide The Assessment Guide provides you with information about how you will be assessed against the required learning outcomes of the Certificate II in Security Operations, so that your assessor can: give you feedback about your understanding of the principles of security operations help you to identify any development needs accept feedback from you regarding the assessment process and the assessment tools used. This training is delivered using a variety of methods including: lectures demonstrations group work scenarios problem-solving questioning role plays. This training is assessed using a variety of methods, including: written tests verbal questioning role plays case studies class activities. 15
