22 Hypertension In Ghana The number of reported new cases of hypertension in outpatient public health facilities in Ghana increased more than ten-fold from 49,087 in 1988 to 505,180 in 2007 Hypertension ranks as the fifth commonest cause of outpatient morbidity. Stroke and hypertension are the leading causes of admission and death.
