5 The Nordic Council of Ministers Established in 1971 as the organ of intergovernmental cooperation The prime ministers have overall responsibility for the cooperation We act as the Secretariat for this inter-governmental cooperation. Based in Copenhagen 5

7 The Nordic Council(s) of Ministers Each Council is assisted by a Nordic Council of Ministers Committee for Labour (MR-A) of Senior Nordic Council of Ministers Officials. for Business, These are Energy national & Regional Policy (MR-NER) government officials who are Council of Ministers for charged Fisheries with and preparing Aquaculture, and Agriculture, Food and Forestry (MR-FJLS) following up on issues. 9 The Secretariat Manage Nordic projects, programs and institutions A small setup, i.e. three full time staff for Health and Social Issues (MR-S). One for Research. Much is done in Nordic work groups, teams, institutions and in each country 9
