Children are dying children like the ones Mother Teresa cared for in Calcutta. And as our Catholic faith tells us, we have an obligation to feed and care for these helpless children of God. Let me put a human face on this crisis, the face of an infant we found in a wretched shack made of cardboard boxes and nylon. A hideous death by malnutrition had already taken Elvira s sister. Starved down to only three pounds, Elvira was clinging to the very edge of life. Shortly after witnessing this scene of utter desolation, one of the missionaries who found this child wrote to me: Jim, it has been strictly through the grace of God and a faithful team with willing hearts that Elvira has been able to make a complete recovery.
