Differential and integral calculus of algebraic functions, with applications to economic models and probability (35.) Finite Mathematics with Business and Economic Applications. 3 cr. Prerequisite: Mathematics 1031 or consent of department. Set theory, probability, and vectors and matrix algebra, with applications to business (50.) Analytic Geometry and Calculus. 5 cr. Prerequisite: Math 1022 or approval of the mathematics faculty. Five hours of lecture each week (51.) Analytic Geometry and Calculus. 5 cr. Prerequisite: Math Five hours lecture each week (57.) Multidimensional Calculus. 3 cr. Prerequisite: Math Three dimensional analytic geometry, partial derivatives, multiple integrals (55.) Elementary Differential Equations. 3 cr. Prerequisite: Math A beginning course in ordinary differential equations with emphasis on the solving of linear equations (85.) Linear Algebra. 3 cr. Prerequisite: Math Systems of linear equations, vector spaces, linear transformations, matrices and determinants. Three hours of lecture each week (99.) Elementary Number Theory. 3 cr. Three hours of lecture each week. MICROBIOLOGY 2051 (51.) General Microbiology. 5 cr. Prerequisite: general biology and some knowledge of chemistry. A study of the structure and function of microbial cells with emphasis on their relationship to man. Three hours of lecture and four hours of laboratory each week. MILITARY SCIENCE There is no military obligation for those students enrolled in any basic military science course. Credits earned in the basic program can be transferred to other U. S. institutions of higher learning which offer the program. Completion of six semester hours in the basic course is a prerequisite to entering the advanced program. Upon successful completion of the advanced program, the student will receive a Commission in the United States Army as a Second Lieutenant (11.) First-Year Basic Army. 1 cr. Orientation, organization of the Army and ROTC, individual weapons; leadership, drill, and command. One hour lecture; 1 1/2 hours lab each week (12.) First-Year Basic Army. 1 cr. U. S. Army and national security; leadership, drill, and command. One hour lecture; 1 1/2 hours lab each week (61.) Second-Year Basic Army. 2 cr. Map reading and small-unit tactics; leadership, drill, and command. Two hours lecture; hours lab each week (62.) Second-Year Basic Army. 2 cr. American military history; leadership, drill, and command. Two hours of lecture; 1 1/2 hours lab each week. MUSIC 1001, 1002 (15, 16) Voice Class - Group Instruction in Voice Production. 2 cr. each. Open to students not majoring in music with consent of instructor. May not be taken for major credit in a vocal curriculum. Two hours of lecture each week. 1011, 1012 (30A,30B) Freshman Voice. 3 cr. each. One hour of instruction each week. Private voice instruction ( 1.) First-Year Theory. 4 cr. For music majors. Instrumental and vocal music, the symphony, keyboard music, art songs, choral music. Three hours of lecture each week. 1753, 1754 (21,22) Music History and Appreciation. 2 cr. each. For students majoring in music; open to others by consent of instructor. May not be used as a substitute for Music Emphasis on music of the classical and romantic periods. Two hours of lecture each week (94.) University Chorus. 1 cr. (Course may be repeated for credit.) Enrollment in this course by permission of the instructor. Intensive study of choral music of all periods, including preparation for public performance. Three hours of laboratory each week. 2011,2012 (70A, 708.) Sophomore Voice. 3 cr. each. Private voice instruction. One hour of instruction each week. NURSING 1020 (20A.) Fundamentals of Nursing. 5 cr. (Fall). This course is designed to introduce basic concepts and principles of nursing care. Professional ethics, personal and community health, normal nutrition, mental health concepts, and basic nursing techniques are included. Fundamental human needs and their relationship to basic nursing are emphasized. An introduction to library facilities and media laboratory is included to facilitate the use of reference books, periodical indexes, card catalog, and audio-visual materials. Clinical laboratory experience in the health agency provides the opportunity to develop nursing skills by giving direct patient care. Three hours of lecture and six hours of laboratory each week (21A.) Fundamentals of Nursing. 6 cr. (Spring). Prerequisite: Nursing 1020 or sue cessful completion of challenge exam.
