2 A COURSE DESIGNED SPECIFICALLY FOR YOU Designed with the diverse needs of the GI nurse practitioner (NP) and physician assistant (PA) in mind, this course offers a comprehensive program that focuses on best practices and evidence-based medicine. Attendees have an exceptional opportunity to develop and enhance diagnostic and therapeutic skills. Information gained at the course can be immediately applied in a variety of practice settings to help improve overall patient care. Sessions will cover: Esophageal disorders, including GERD, Barrett s esophagus, and esophageal functional and motility disorders. Gastric and small bowel disorders, including gastroparesis, ulcer disease and celiac disease. Colon disorders, including IBD and IBS. Nutrition, obesity and pancreo-biliary issues. Liver disorders and available treatments, including heptatis B and C fatty liver disease. NPs and PAs new to the field, as well as those with years of experience, will find the course offers something for all who attend. Panel discussions concluding each session offer attendees an opportunity to engage with physicians, NPs and PAs from around the country. CASE-BASED APPROACH TO GASTROENTEROLOGY Faculty will use practical, case-based examples to demonstrate topics. You will hear directly from the experts as they provide their thoughts and insight on optimal patient care. Bring your most challenging cases with you to the course for an opportunity to receive valuable feedback from our expert faculty. Cases will be reviewed during the scheduled panel discussions. LEARNING OBJECTIVES Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to: Identify the common and less common causes of pancreatitis, review its classification and discuss management. Review the diagnosis and management of hepatobiliary conditions, biliary strictures, leaks and stones, and assess when pancreatic function testing and interventional endoscopic techniques are necessary. Summarize the disease burden and current future treatment options for viral hepatitis, workup of abnormal liver function tests and management of cirrhosis and hepatic mass lesions. Discuss evaluation and treatments for small bowel and colon disorders including IBD, IBS, celiac disease, diarrheal diseases and bacterial growth. Review the presentation and management of upper gastrointestinal (esophagus, gastric and duodenum) disease states, including GERD, eosinophilic esophagitis, achalasia, H. pylorigastritis, gastroparesis and ulcer disease. Evaluate what to order and how to interpret upper GI physiology laboratory studies. Discuss issues involving obesity and nutrition for the gastroenterologist. Review the presentation and management of various GI malignancies of the upper and lower GI tract, liver and neuroendocrine systems.

6 REGISTRATION INFORMATION Discounted Room Rate: $159 per night, plus 16.4 percent tax (single/double occupancy) To receive the discounted rate, mention that you are attending this AGA Institute meeting.
