1 MRT Registration If you have been registered with the Board before or you have already applied for registration then go to the My Profile section of the website and login with the username and password that has been supplied. If you have not received a username or password then contact the Board mrt@medsci.co.nz Contact details You must update your contact details before you can continue through the application process. The fields marked with a red * are mandatory fields. Once you have completed the details, select the Continue button at the bottom of the screen. 2 Enter your personal details and select a password for your login to the site. Password must be 6 or more characters long and contain the following characters: lowercase, uppercase, punctuation characters.. If you get the following message * Password is too short, it must be 6 or more characters long. * You need to increase the strength of your passwords by adding some of the following characters: lowercase, uppercase, punctuation characters Update your password so that it meets the password requirements. * fields are mandatory and must be completed before you can move to the next screen. If you forget your password in the future then use the Forgot Password option.

3 You have the option of selecting Use My Residential Address Or Use My Work Address or Use Another Address as your postal address. You must satisfy the Board you have not been convicted by any New Zealand court or elsewhere of any offence punishable by imprisonment for a term of three months or longer. If you have been convicted of an offence punishable by a term of three months or longer, you must satisfy the Board that offence does not reflect adversely on your fitness to practice in any of the scopes of practice in the profession of medical radiation technology.. You must satisfy the Board that you have not been the subject of an investigation in association with, professional disciplinary proceedings, and/or an order of a professional disciplinary tribunal.

4 New Zealand Trained Applicant If you hold a New Zealand qualification, select NZ Trained Applicant. TTMRA Applicant Australian applicants who have registration in Queensland, Western Australia, Tasmania, Victoria, or the Northern Territory can apply for registration in New Zealand under the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Act (TTMRA) of Such applications are the same as for New Zealand graduates. However TTRMA only applies to registration applications for the scopes of practice o o o Diagnostic Imaging General Technologist Radiation Therapist Nuclear Medicine Technologist

5 If you are applying under the TTRMA Act, you can select TTMRA Applicant and complete Current TTRMA Board information. Overseas Applicant If you are an overseas applicant you must complete the details for an overseas applicant.

6 If you wish to register in any of the scopes of practice in the profession of medical radiation technology, you must have a sound ability to communicate in English in the context of working in a medical imaging environment. If your medical radiation technology training was carried out in a language other than English, the Board will require evidence of proficiency in English before registration is approved. The Board accepts results in the academic version of the International English Language Testing System (IELTS). You must attain an overall score of no less than 7.5, and band scores of no less than 7 in any category of the academic version of the IELTS. The IELTS results need to be no more than two years old. If you are registered with a Registration Board/Authority in your country of residence or have been registered with any other Registration Boards/Authorities, please enter the name of the Registration Authority/Board, the date you were registered with the Registration Authority/Board and your registraion number.

7 You must list your clinical expereince, starting with your most recent employment. Enter the dates you were employed, your main area of responsibility and list equipment used.

8 Qualifications Please enter your qualifications. The Year Qualification Completed is the year that you completed your qualification. Enter all the qualifications that you consider relevant to the application. 9 MRT Declaration You must complete the declaration as per section 117 of the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act Should you answer any of the questions "False" a dialogue box will appear and this must be completed before you move on to the next question. Should you select "False" the Board will review your explanation and if required may contact you. 11 Information for Applicants Under the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003 (the Act) Board is required to maintain a register of Medical Radiation Technologists registered with the Board (sections ). Section 7 (1) of the Act states: A person may only use names, words, titles, initials, abbreviations, or descriptions stating or implying that the person is a health practitioner of a particular kind if the person is registered, and is qualified to be registered, as a health practitioner. Without registration a person may not use any of the names/titles/abbreviations used for the eight specified scopes of practice within the profession of medical radiation technology, or do anything calculated to suggest that he/she is qualified to be registered or able to practise in any of those scopes of practice. The Board can only register you if you meet the qualifications, experience, and fitness for registration requirements set by the Board, under the Act.
