Heart Ward Workforce review undertaken by Matron, Senior Nurse and Ward Sister determines increased use of NA specials during day and night for vulnerable patients (confused/falls). Increased use of NA's at night to accommodate short fall in RNs due to.30% vacancy rate and bank fill rate of < 85% Heart Ward Workforce review undertaken by Matron, Senior Nurse and Ward Charge Nurse determines increased use of NA specials during day and night for vulnerable patients (confused/falls). Further eroster mapping exercise undertaken with ward Charge Nurse and Senior Nurse to determine more effective erostering going forward. Heart Critical Care NAs not used every shift at night time as considered not required - although built into establishment THH Totals (Total Inc ITU) Total Exc ITU's (Total Exc ITU) University College Hospital UCH Tower 1st Floor / AMU The additional hours equates to shifts booked for specials who care for patients with mental health issue and those at high risk of falling or absconding. T06 North Short Stay Ward T06 South Assessment (SAAU) additional beds open at weekend to accommodate Saturday theatre lists. These are not included in the eroster requirements. Establishment increase underway. UCH Tower 7th Floor N NA Usage is due to specials for confused, risk of falls patients. Hyper Acute Stroke Unit RN reduced due to 7 vacancies, these have been recruited to and due to start, staff moved to cover to maintain safety. Nas used for 1:1 specials. UCH Tower 8th North Floor the increase use of NA staffing was due to special use on the ward. The increase in RN staff was as a result of a patient being sectioned and requiring an RMN UCH Tower 8th South Floor the understaffing of RN staff was a result of higher than normal sickness rates with a underlying vacancy factor. This was exacerbated by a difficulty in filling RN vacancies on the bank. In increased use of NA's reflects special use for isolated patients requiring supervision in a side room. UCH Tower 9th Floor N RNs - vacancies currently 20% - 10 wtes. 6 are awaiting start dates NAs - one aggressive patient for the whole month of Aug required a special 24/7. We had another patient at risk of subsconding who could not be co-horted. NAs booked as bank to support the ward when vacant RN shifts could not be filled. Levelling with other wards in the division when able. UCH Tower 10th Floor North Reduced RNs on days due to sickness and Bank unable to fill. Safety maintained by moving staff and ward sister taking clinical workload.high Nas to provide 1:1 specials for patients at risk. UCH Tower 10th Floor South Reduced RNs on days due to sickness and Bank unable to fill. Safety maintained by moving staff and ward sister taking clinical workload.high Nas to provide 1:1 specials for patients at risk. UCH Tower 13th Floor N #DIV/0!
