All leaders will benefit from her perspective of healthcare management and what guidance, mentoring and direction is needed from all leaders in order to achieve results even when resources are limited. Liz s extraordinary message will touch the leader in all of us as she discusses the tough subjects of changing behaviors and managing morale. 3 FACULTY Pam Brown, BSN, RN, CPHQ joined the AHA in February, She most recently served as vice president of quality programs for the Arkansas Foundation for Medical Care (AFMC), the state s QIO. Prior to joining AFMC, she served in various hospital clinical positions such as director of clinical services, case manager, staff and charge nurse. Her primary duties are to lead in the development, coordination and implementation of the goals and work plan of the AHA s Patient Safety and Quality Program. Liz Jazwiec, BSN, RN is a nationally renowned speaker, strategist and author who has shared her passion for leadership, engagement and service with audiences across the country. She is the award winning author of the bestselling books Eat THAT Cookie!, Hey Cupcake! We are ALL Leaders, and Service Excellence is as Easy as Pie (Perception Is Everything). In 2010, Eat THAT Cookie! was chosen as a winner of the American Journal of Nursing Book of the Year in the leadership and management category. Liz graduated from Northern Illinois University with a Bachelor s degree in Nursing. She is currently the president and founder of Liz, Inc. Liz has delivered more than 2,000 invited addresses and workshops to healthcare audiences nationwide, including recent presentations to the Wisconsin Organization of Nurse Executives, National Association of Orthopedic Nurses, Sutter Health s Partners Advancing Clinical Excellence event, California Society for Healthcare Risk Managers, Community Health Systems National CNO Conference, Case Management Society of Oklahoma Conference and Iowa Hospital Association s Nurse Leadership Track. Betsy Lee, MSPH, BSN, RN is an independent consultant and contractor in patient safety, quality improvement and healthcare team vitality. Betsy currently supports the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Partnership for Patients initiative as a national spread agent and improvement advisor with Cynosure Health. In these roles, she serves both the National Content Developer (IMPAQ International) and the American Hospital Association Health Research and Educational Trust Hospital Engagement Network. Through other projects she fosters transformational change to promote nursing leadership, inter-professional collaborative practice, quality improvement, teamwork and patient safety. In previous roles, Betsy directed the Indiana Patient Safety Center at the Indiana Hospital Association and served as a director for the Institute for Healthcare Improvement. CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDIT 5.2 nursing contact hours will be awarded to nurses who attend the entire workshop and sign in at the registration desk. Arkansas Hospital Association is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by South Central Accreditation Program, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center s Commission on Accreditation. 5.2 CPHQ continuing education hours are pending approval by the National Association for Healthcare Quality. Approved contact hours do not constitute approval or endorsement for any commercial products by the American Nurses Credentialing Center s COA. 5 Any hospital interested in presenting a poster presentation related to a relationship-based care model, initiative and/or practice should use the following criteria for their poster. Posters should include: Freestanding display board or 3-fold cardboard display Title of presentation & organization/individuals involved in model/initiative/practice One-page summary handout outlining model/initiative/ practice If you plan to present a poster please Jennifer Kostelecky by July 22 at jkostelecky@arkhospitals.org to reserve a table. Participants will be required to have their posters displayed by 8:30 a.m. the day of the conference. Conference participants will vote on the poster that demonstrates the best overall relationship based care model, initiative and/or practice. Please also indicate your participation in the poster contest on the registration form attached to this brochure.
