No Course Overview This is an elective course that has been designed for students undertaking an outward-bound clinical nursing experience. By studying this course you will gain knowledge and skill in caring for people from a culture different to your own in their home country or setting. Transferable nursing concepts will be explored and you will be encouraged to develop and implement a health-focused project relevant to the people and/or community you are visiting during your outward bound nursing experience. 2 Section 2: Justification for New Course Rationale This course is part of the redevelopment of the Bachelor of Nursing program. The course provides an opportunity for students to have a structured outward bound learning experience in which outcomes are credited to their current studies. Program Committee and Program Reference Committee Consultation Meeting Evidence of Consultation Outcome(s) of Consultation Intra University Consultation All Deans and DDLTs were invited to attend a meeting to discuss the impending redevelopment of the Bachelor Nursing. All parties in attendance supported the redevelopment of the Bachelor of Nursing Program. School of Nursing and Midwifery Bachelor of Nursing Staff Workshop. Changes to this course were recommended at this workshop held in October Curriculum Consultation Workshops. A number of regional workshops were held from September 2014 in various locations including Mackay, Rockhampton, Bundaberg, Noosa and Brisbane. Health industry representatives, other universities, students and other stakeholders were consulted regarding changes to the Bachelor of Nursing program and courses. Changes to this course were recommended during these consultation workshops. School of Nursing and Midwifery Program Committee. The course change proposal will be submitted to the School Program Committee for approval.

Use effective communication skills and cultural intelligence to apply principles from the nursing process to aid the health of individuals and cultural groups. 2. Acquire, evaluate and utilize person centred resources (human, material, technological and environmental) to aid the health of individuals and cultural groups. 3. Appreciate the differences between Australian's multicultural society and those visted during the outward bound experience. 4. Function within legal and ethical frameworks and scope of practice of a nursing student in accordance with NMBA competencies during the outward-bound nursing experience.
