3 Strategy Development process Strategy Working Group Altogether 5 meetings during December February 2015 Active participation from all members (EE, DE, FI, LV, LT, NO, RU, SE, IOM, WHO, NDPHS EGs, NDPHS Secretariat) Assisted by an external consultant from August 2014 onwards CSR 23 in Berlin April 2014 Approved the NDPHS vision 2020 and the overall objective CSR approved the revised list of objectives in June 2014 Expert Groups and Task Groups started to work on the Action Plan from August/September 2014 onwards, Several rounds of consultations with CSR and Expert Groups on the Strategy 2020 and Action Plan in late 2014 and early 2015
4 Strategy development process CSR 24 in Brussels April 2015 Discussed the final comments in its meeting Strategy document was revised accordingly and adopted by the CSR through silent procedure on 5 June 2015 Agreed to establish an ad hoc Working Group on Expert Groups Terms of Reference (EGTOR) to propose to CSR the new expertlevel structures Action Plan development continued through consultations Action Plan was adopted by the CSR on 28 September 2015
5 Vision 2020: Vision and overall objective The NDPHS, as a highly valued and innovative regional network, significantly contributes to the improvement of people s health and social well-being in the Northern Dimension area. Overall Objective Promote sustainable development in the Northern Dimension area through improving human health and social well-being. Priority Areas, as concluded by the PAC10 Antimicrobial resistance; HIV/AIDS and associated infections; Non-communicable diseases; Alcohol and substance abuse; Occupational safety and health and well-being at work; Primary health care
6 Architecture of the NDPHS Strategy 2020 OVERALL OBJECTIVE Promote sustainable development in the Northern Dimension area through improving human health and social well-being OBJECTIVES RESULTS CROSS-CUTTING THEMES Health equity and social cohesion in all actions Innovative approaches and technologies The Health in All Policies approach Inclusion of people in vulnerable situations in all actions of relevance GUIDING PRINCIPLES for the implementation Added value Bottom-up processes combined with topdown approaches Co-financing Cross-sectoral collaboration ACTIVITIES TARGET GROUPS Wiktor Szydarowski, modified by Marja Anttila
7 Objectives Objective 1: Reduced impact of HIV, TB and associated infections among key populations at risk, including prisoners, through strengthened prevention and access to treatment Objective 2: Contained antimicrobial resistance - through inter-sectoral efforts supporting the implementation of regional and global strategies and/or action plans Objective 3: Reduced impact of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) - through strengthened prevention and addressing lifestyle-related risk factors Objective 4: Reduced social and health harm from alcohol, tobacco and illicit use of drugs - through strengthening and promotion of multi-sectoral approaches Objective 5: Adequately addressed health and social needs related to chronic conditions and demographic changes through strengthened integration and coordination of care and prevention throughout life course at primary care level Objective 6: Strengthened occupational safety and health and well-being at work - through information and reporting systems, workplace activities and occupational health services
8 Action Plan Accompanies the NDPHS Strategy 2020 Contains detailed information on the planned activities and expected results of the Partnership s joint work during Presents assumptions for effective and succesful accomplishement of the objectives Highlights the importance of sufficient resources, including funds Informs about horizontal actions to make health and social well-being more visible on the regional agenda and to strengthen relevant policies Shows the development context for each objective and sets a framework for specific NDPHS activities (our footprint) Presents expected results for NDPHS work and indicators to measure the achievement of the results Specifies planned activities towards each result and deliverables under each activity
