1 DSC Notice: 38/2002 Date of Issue: October 2002 NHS Information Standards Board Subject: Data Standards: Requirements for Accreditation RFA99 V1.2 Implementation Date: April 2003 DATA SET CHANGE CONTROL PROCEDURE This paper gives notification of changes to be included in the NHS Data Dictionary & Manual and the NHS CDS Manual as appropriate. These will be consolidated into the publications in due course. Summary of Changes: Changes to the NHS Data Dictionary & Manual as a result of the release of Version 2.1 of RFA99. Change Proposal Reference No: CP 30/02 The NHS Information Standards Board (NHS ISB) is responsible for approving information standards. The NHS ISB is supported by the Management Information Standards Board, the Clinical Information Standards Board and the Technical Standards Board. 2 DATA SET CHANGE NOTICE 38/2002 Reference: CP30/02 - DG1065/08/02 v1.6 Subject: Requirements for Accreditation RFA99 V1.2 Type of Change: Revision of NHS data standards Effective Date: April 2003 Reason for Change: The Requirements for Accreditation RFA99 V1.2 consultation document. Background: In view of the anticipated changes in requirements for systems across Primary Care, the Primary Care Information Management Board (PCIMB) has had to consider how the principles of RFA should be developed to support those changes. It was felt inappropriate at this time to release a major new version for RFA2001 and more appropriate to include the core elements that had been intended for RFA2001 in Version 2.1 of RFA99. It is intended that these standards will form the minimum for GP computer systems. Information on Requirements For Accreditation for GP computer systems can be found at The Requirements for Accreditation for GP computer system revisions have highlighted some data standards which need amendment. The following are the changes to the NHS Data Dictionary & Manual to reflect this. 4 CHANGES GENERAL MEDICAL PRACTITIONER The description and attributes are unchanged Each GENERAL MEDICAL PRACTITIONER may be designated as one or more GMP CONTACTS FOR PERSONS may be associated with one or more REGISTRATIONS The remaining relationships are unchanged Change entity type description, attributes and relationships GMP CONTACT FOR PERSON A type of PERSON GMP ASSOCIATION. The GENERAL MEDICAL PRACTITIONER who is designated as being the contact for delivery of items of General Medical Service to a PERSON or the GENERAL MEDICAL PRACTITIONER who usually sees the PATIENT. This may or may not be the GENERAL MEDICAL PRACTITIONER with whom the PERSON is registered. Attributes of this entity type are: K START DATE O END DATE Each GMP CONTACT FOR PERSON K must be an arrangement with one and only one GENERAL MEDICAL PRACTITIONER K must be with one and only one PERSON Change entity type attributes PATIENT The description is unchanged. PERSON The description and attributes are unchanged Each PERSON may be involved in one or more GMP CONTACTS FOR PERSONS may be the subject of one or more REGISTRATIONS The remaining relationships are unchanged New entity type PRIVATE GMP ASSOCIATION A type of PERSON GMP ASSOCIATION. An agreement between a PERSON and a GENERAL MEDICAL PRACTITIONER whereby a PERSON receives treatment from a GENERAL MEDICAL PRACTITIONER who has accepted and classified the person as a private patient for delivery of the treatment. This entity type has no attributes. This entity type has no relationships. REGISTRATION The description and attributes are unchanged. Each REGISTRATION K must be the responsibility of one and only one GENERAL MEDICAL PRACTITIONER K must be for one and only one PERSON New attribute CARER PERMISSION DATE The date on which permission was given for details of PATIENT s carer to be recorded.
