3 Dear Madam, Thank you for choosing the Candela Clinic. With this brochure, we would like to try to dispel any doubts and answer some questions that arise for parents in the period before the birth of their child. WHERE IS THE OBSTETRIC FIRST AID? The Obstetric First Aid is located on the ground floor. The expectant mother may be accompanied, in the emergency room, only by a relative and/or friend. WHERE ARE THE DEPARTMENT, THE DELIVERY ROOM AND THE NURSERY LOCATED? The Department of Obstetrics, the Delivery room and Nursery are located on the second floor. The mother is taken care of by the staff Obstetrician and Medical Guard midwife, who perform the necessary checks. WHAT DOCUMENTS MUST I BRING INTO HOSPITAL, AT THE TIME OF ADMISSION? Administrative Documentation: The proposed admission of prescription (only for planned admissions). The Executive Summary of the clinical history of the patient, prepared by the doctor general practitioners (family): MODEL E/D. Social security number or health card Valid identity In the case of unmarried couples or of foreign nationality, social service require further documents, after childbirth, for the declaration of birth. Documentation Health: Folder pregnancy Blood in the original Latest blood tests Electrocardiogram HIV Test, HBsAg (hepatitis B), HCV (hepatitis C) Last vaginal swab Last urine culture Outcomes of specialist visits

4 WHAT TO PUT IN THE MOTHER'S SUITCASE: nightgowns (not synthetic fiber), if possible, with adequate opening for breastfeeding and execution of therapy intravenously. breastfeeding bra; diskettes for breast feeding (disposable hygiene protection of the breast); cotton, paper or soft net underpants; sanitary towels consistent (Swedish type diapers); dressing gown, slippers, towels, toiletries necessary for, bathrobe (Every hospital room is equipped with bathroom with shower). WHAT TO PUT IN THE CASE OF THE UNBORN BABY: Cotton sheets (above - below) for the cradle Cover of cotton or wool (second season) Squares of cotton Towelling Bathrobes Cotton shirts Wool jumpers (if the season is winter) Cotton socks shoes made of cotton or wool (second season) Laundry bag WHAT DOES THE HOSPITAL DO? After the "admittance phase", the folder is compiled and the mother is accompanied to the hospital room. Hospital rooms accommodate two patients, are equipped with bathroom with shower, personal locker, TV and telephone, which only lets you receive incoming calls. In hospital rooms the presence of a single family is allowed. The telephone number of your bed is: room number. DELIVERY ROOM Those in charge of the Delivery Room are on call doctors and Obstetricians. The Delivery Room midwife follows the woman throughout the course of labour; checks the conditions of fetal well-being; performs check-ups during labour; assists childbirth. In the delivery room the presence of her partner is allowed and encouraged. When the labour begins, those who require it and who have had approval by the anesthesiologist can undergo epidural anesthesia.

5 The epidural anesthesia requires continuous monitoring, and thus, the woman cannot leave the delivery room afterwards. Clinical information will be given obstetrician, following labour, and/or by the Doctor on call at the moment of labour. If delivery occurs spontaneously, the partners will be present at the birth, however for women who undergo a cesarean the family can not access. After delivery, women will spend the first two hours in the delivery for postpartum checks. Please note that, after the birth of the baby, Candela clinic releases the certificate of birth. It will be your responsibility to go to the office of the registrar your municipality of residence, with identity documents and social security number, to register the birth. In this regard, at admission, the mother will have to communicate, in writing, the name of the family and the name of the doctor to whom you want to information about health to be given (the Privacy Act). THE NURSERY The Nursery is adjacent to the Delivery Room and is managed by a team of neonatologists and nurses who are involved in the care of the newborn. The Pediatrician performs the first visit, the daily checks and the discharge visit of the newborn. After birth, every newborn remains under transient observation at the nursery for at least two hours and is delivered to his father, after showing an identity document, only when the conditions of the child permit it. The nurses are available to help the mother in her first approach with the newborn (breastfeeding, nappy changing, care of the umbilical stump). VISITING HOURS TO PATIENTS WORKING DAYS AND HOLIDAYS: morning from to evening from to RULES OF GOOD PRACTICE Those who access to a health facility, to visit a hospitalized patient, are urged to respect visiting hours, established by the Health Department, in order to allow the carrying out of the ordinary course of care and respect the need for peace and quiet and rest of the other patients. In order to ensure the hygienic and health protection of the babies, entry under the age of 12 is strictly forbidden, except for individual exemptions, arranged and authorized by the medical director. In the latter case, children must be accompanied by an adult.

6 In special situations visits to inpatient, outside the given time, must be authorized, with written permission, issued by the Medical Director or a person delegated by him. In this case, the family authorized must conform to the rules of the Department and have an appropriate respect to the hospital environment, encouraging at the same time, full cooperation with the operators. Access to Departments is allowed for Visitors, limited to two people per resident. To ensure the hygiene of patients admitted, the use of services for visitors is forbidden Toilet in the patient rooms. Public toilet facilities present within the building should be used by visitors. Visitors are urged to avoid "sitting" on the beds of patients. Conditions of maximum hygiene must be guaranteed, to the mother and newborn, also, by family and friends. The Clinic pays particular attention to the nutrition of new mothers who are breastfeeding. In fact, diets for mothers, developed by specialists, provide the proper nutritional intake and the exclusion of foods, which could result harmful to the baby. We recommend, therefore, avoiding the use of foods not administered by the clinic. On the day of discharge, only one person has access to the department to complete all formalities. In respect of patients, cell phone use inside Hospital is discouraged and, when possible, do not use the ringtone. The Clinic is not responsible for personal items of value and/or money, left unattended in the ward. Smoking is prohibited in the rooms of the clinic (Act 16/1/2003, 3, art.51 "Health Protection of non-smokers"). We are confident that the observance of these rules will benefit the quality of care, we wish to reserve you.
