1 Trust Board Member Profiles Non-Executive Directors David Pearson MBE Chairman David Pearson was appointed Chairman of Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent Partnership NHS Trust from 6 June Prior to his substantive appointment David fulfilled the role on an interim basis from 1 September Experience: David has 42 years experience of working in the NHS during which time he has held a variety of clinical and senior managerial roles. Over the past 22 years David was involved in the transformation of local mental health services including institutional closures and the development of a range of community mental health services. A mental health and learning disabilities nurse, David held the post of Executive Director of Nursing and Allied Health Professionals and Operations and has negotiated Section 75 Social Care arrangements. Outside of the NHS David was a Non- Executive Independent Director on Moorlands Housing Board for 10 years and is currently a Governor on the Board at Reaseheath College, Nantwich. Between 1992 and 1997 he was involved through the Charities AID Foundation in a review of mental health services in Volgograd and Moscow in Russia and in Croatia. In 1997 he was appointed clinical lecturer to Keele University s Department of Post Graduate Psychiatry and in 2005 made a University fellow in Mental Health Nursing at Staffordshire University. David is married with three daughters and lives in the Staffordshire Moorlands.

2 Dr John Scarpello Experience: MB,BCh,MD,FRCP Graduated from the University of Wales and undertook postgraduate training in Nottingham and Sheffield. He gained a post- doctoral research fellowship at the University of Michigan and in 1981 was appointed Consultant Physician at the University Hospital of North Staffordshire specialising in diabetes, retiring in He established joint research studies with the University of Keele and was a Principle Investigator in the UK Prospective Diabetes Study. Elected to many national and international scientific associations, including Council of the European Diabetes Association and Diabetes UK. Served on various Department of Health committees and chaired the National Eye Screening Training Committee. He was a member of the Confidential Enquiry into Maternal and Child Health and the DH Expert Group on prevention of Thrombo-embolism in Hospitalised Patients. Examiner for the Royal College of Physicians, Seconded to the National Patient Safety Agency in 2003 and appointed Deputy Medical Director from From was Medical Director of the Royal College of Physicians responsible for Service Reviews for NHS trusts. He is currently a member of the Clinical Reference Group of Monitor. After retirement from the NHS he joined the Citizens Advice Bureau as a volunteer and chairs the Board of Trustees for Newcastle and Kidsgrove. Gary Crowe Gary joined the board of Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent Partnership NHS Trust in March Experience: Gary has over 29 years experience in commercial banking and risk management. He has performed a variety of senior roles at Board level including responsibility for strategy, business transformation and operational management. He is now an independent Business Consultant with a number of voluntary, charity and Non-Executive interests. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management, a qualified project manager, full Member of the Institute of Directors and a Chartered Banker. Gary is married with two children and has lived in Staffordshire for over 40 years. In his spare time Gary is a keen cyclist and enjoys all mountain sports.

3 Jane Gaddum Experience: With over 20 years healthcare experience at global pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca and BUPA Hospitals, Jane Gaddum brings extensive experience in driving decision-making in large complex organisations. Much of her career has been spent influencing corporate strategy and investment decisions, latterly leading an international commercial team guiding the design and development of new medicines for Asthma, COPD and Rheumatoid Arthritis. Jane is passionate about ensuring the future needs of patients, physicians and those who fund healthcare are built into plans. Alongside her board advisor role, Jane will continue to co-run textile company Gaddum & Gaddum in Leek, Staffordshire Moorlands. Paul Weston Experience: Paul is currently the Chief Financial Officer of Housing and Care 21, a social enterprise providing housing and care to older people of modest means. Paul is a qualified chartered accountant with 25 years experience in business and finance covering both consumer products and service sectors. He has previously worked for the Home Group and Allied Healthcare Group as Chief Financial Officer. Prior to this he was Group Financial Controller at SSL International plc, a worldwide manufacturer and distributor of healthcare and consumer brands. Paul has also been a Director of Fruit of the Loom (textile manufacturer and distributor). In 2015 Paul was nominated for and won the HANA Finance Director 2015 award. He has a degree in industrial economics. He has three daughters and lives in Staffordshire. During his spare time he enjoys travelling, racquet sports, country activities and fundraising.

4 Elizabeth Jarrett Experience: Elizabeth has over 30 years experience in social care and health services, over 20 of which have been spent in Staffordshire/Stoke-on-Trent. Her public sector management roles covered service provision, regulation and inspection, joint commissioning, partnership working and customer services, including complaints management, public information and user & carer engagement. More recently and prior to her appointment as a Non-Executive Director, Elizabeth has worked as a Community Engagement lead on behalf of Healthwatch Staffordshire. Elizabeth is passionate about the active involvement of patients, users and carers in the planning, delivery and monitoring of services and brings significant experience in this area. Elizabeth also has a particular interest in the integration of health and social care services across different organisations, sectors and disciplines.

5 Executive Directors Neil Carr, Chief Executive Officer Neil Carr joined the Trust in July 2017 having been in executive director roles for 27 years. He previously worked as a mental health nurse, primarily in GP practices and acute hospitals, and credits his clinical background as the reason why he passionately put patients first. As a Chief Executive, Neil is also passionate about establishing a culture which gets it right for patients and staff. Co-production and working in partnership is hugely important, and of major interest is the coproduction between primary and secondary care, and putting patients at the very centre of our work. Neil is committed to patient care, staff development and community services, with significant interest in strategic and transformational leadership and Mental Health strategy. Neil was awarded the OBE in 2005 for services to healthcare and holds an Honorary Doctorate for his contribution to leadership in health care. In April 2010 he was awarded a Fellowship of the Royal College of Nursing in recognition of an exceptional contribution to leadership. My vision is to get it right for the people of Staffordshire, who deserve the best possible care and support. Together we will demonstrate our ability to deliver best practice across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent. Kieron Murphy, Director of Operations Qualifications: B.A.(Hons), M.B.A. Experience: Kieron has 25 years of experience in the leadership of health and social care including a number of joint roles. Kieron has considerable experience at Corporate/Board level including as Executive Director, NHS Chief Executive Officer and Corporate Director of Adult Social Services. In addition Kieron has led national programmes at the Department of Health and the Home Office and also established the National Mental Health Commissioning Programme and Joint Commissioning Panel for Mental Health. Kieron is passionate about quality and integration in health and social care and in his role as Director of Children's Services he also leads the Trust's response to the Francis Report.

7 Rose Goodwin, Director of Nursing and Quality Qualifications: ONC, RGN, RHV, MBA (Health Executive) Experience: Rose became a Registered Nurse in 1981 and qualified as a Health Visitor in With over 30 years experience she has previously worked in Cheshire and Manchester in Senior Leadership roles within a community setting. She has been a part of Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent Partnership NHS Trust since the integration in 2011 and is looking forward to undertaking her new Board level role within the Trust. Rose is passionate about influencing service delivery for the community as a whole and is keen to ensure staff have the skills and tools necessary to provide a compassionate and proficient service to all. She is proud to be a nurse and is happy to present the quality agenda at the Board.

8 Julie Tanner, Director of Workforce and Development Qualifications: Executive Diploma for Senior Managers and Directors Level 5 (Inst of Leadership & Management), W Midlands HR Directors OD Programme, National Examining Board of Occupational Health & Safety Cert,, Member of Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development. Experience: Experience of working in both private and public sector organisations within the HR/Training field. Has worked in the Staffordshire health economy for almost twenty years with ten years experience working at senior level across Health Authority, Mental Health, PCT and Community services. Significant experience of managing and delivering major organisational change and providing HR and development strategic leadership across workforce issues, strategic business planning; change management; employment relations/law; workforce development; and transformation. Additional voluntary work undertaken with the children s voluntary sector. Jayne Deaville, Interim Director of Finance and Resources

9 Jo Cowcher, Director of Adult Social Care Qualifications: Diploma in Social Work, BA (Hons) and MA in the Ethics of Social Welfare. Experience: Jo qualified as a Social Worker in From the point of qualification Jo has had a number of different frontline Social Work roles including generic adults teams and specialist mental health work, qualifying as an Approved Social Worker under the Mental Health Act 83 in Jo soon developed an interest in leadership and has many different roles in a management and leadership capacity ranging from Senior Practitioner to Chief Operating Officer within SSOTP. Jo was appointed to the Board in April 2017 as Director of Adult Social Care leading Social Work and Social Care including Occupational Therapy. She is committed to ensuring that all aspects of Social Care have a voice within the Board. Social Work, Social Care and Occupational Therapy are critical to the success of delivering of high quality integrated services and Jo is committed to ensuring that these roles are fully understood and their contribution valued. Jo remains focussed on the individuals that we provide a service to, ensuring that quality is maintained or driven up where needed. She believes strongly that if the individual is kept at the heart of what we do then good practice and quality services should follow. Where this goes wrong for whatever reason Jo is keen to learn to improve the services that are delivered. Jo has lived in Staffordshire for the last twenty years and now lives with her partner and three girls.

10 Claire Bailey, Acting Director of Strategy, Business and Redesign Qualifications: BSc (Hons), RN, Masters Certificate of Credit Experience: Claire Bailey is a recent member to the Board having undertaken her role since September 2016, and has worked for the organisation since the integration in Claire is a qualified Adult Nurse by background and has worked for the NHS for 22 years. Claire nursed in both acute hospital and community settings before operationally managing Community services. More recently as the Associate Director for New Models of Care, Claire brings a wealth of experience in leading transformation of services, redesign, and working with Partners across the system. Claire is passionate about continuous improvement, developing and delivering effective Community services, and the associated coproduction with staff and service users. Additional voluntary work undertaken with a local sports club.
