To create opportunities for whanau to participate and become self reliant in their ability to plan and prepare meals when living independently. KAUPAPA MAORI REHABILITATION UNIT MISSION STATEMENT Our Whare will provide an environment of hope in which whanau will grow, become empowered to be well, and to celebrate being Maori as we return to live our daily lives in the community. CORE OBJECTIVES To provide an environment of hope in which whanau will grow, become empowered to be well. To celebrate being Maori as we return to live our daily lives in the community. To bring together practices from two world-views; Te Ao Maori (Maori World) and Te Ao Tauiwi (Western World) for an effective, efficient health gain outcome for whanau KEY TASKS To maintain Unit expenditure within the proposed financial constraints weekly food budgets. EXPECTED OUTCOMES Purchase & record income & expenditure of the weekly & / or monthly purchase of supplies for ward needs. To ensure supply of food stores to ward is maintained
2 KEY TASKS EXPECTED OUTCOMES To assist nursing staff & patients dietary health care plans Plan & prepare lunch & dinner with whanau assistance in consultation with nursing staff. Assist nursing staff with the whanau knowledge & skill base meal planning / shopping budgets To ensure systems & documentation for food management are maintained Audit compliances Identify, design & implement systems with documentation in alignment with WDHB standards & regulations for Audit Compliances. Check & sign off weekly supervisory duties roster (as & when appropriate) rotation of food in freezers, refrigerators, stove, ovens, cleaning products Ensure kitchen has sufficient safe equipment / utensils available for self catering purposes. To assist whanau in caring for their personal clothing & to ensure that whanau have adequate clothing while in hospital Whai i te Ora clothing is clean and in a good state of repair, clothing is marked appropriately. Liaison with Trust Officer over clothing supplies occurs To ensure that correct recording and storage of patients' valuables occurs. A record of whanau property is kept (on admission, transfer and discharge). Valuables are sent to Trust Office. Storage areas for whanau property are kept in good order. To ensure the Unit has an adequate supply of hospital linen which is appropriate stored Linen orders are up to date; Linen stores are clean & tidy; soiled linen is bagged correctly; Patient bed linen is maintained at a high standard of hygiene. Responsible for the Laundry & making sure it is kept stocked & cleaned. To recognise Individual Responsibility for Workplace Health and Safety under the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992 Company health and safety policies are read and understood and relevant procedures applied to their own work activities Workplace hazards are identified and reported, including self management of hazards where appropriate Can identify health and safety representative for area

Willingness to participate in all Unit activities, including marae based hui, and language competency. Understanding and appreciation of Te Tririti o Waitangi, kaupapa (values) Maori and tikanga (customary practices).
