Main purpose of the job To provide specialist support for improvements in local health and social care services with a focus on supporting the development of Multi Disciplinary teams and Parkinson s Nurse Services to better meet the needs of people affected by Parkinson s. 2. UK Parkinsons Excellence Network, Clinical Audit Manager Service planners and commissioners, health and social care professionals; Allied Health Professionals, Parkinsons Specalist Nurses, people affected by Parkinson s. 3. Brief description of directorate The Strategic Intelligence and Excellence directorate drives activities that enable us to reach, listen and respond to the needs of people affected by Parkinson s, professionals and supporters and secure the changes in policies, attitudes and services that people living with the condition want to see. The role is an important function within the UK Parkinson s Excellence Network, which brings together the voice of people affected by Parkinson s, the passion of Parkinson s professionals and the resources of Parkinson s UK to achieve improvements in health and social care for people living with Parkinson s. 4. Scope of the job A. Providing specialist expertise to support professionals and local health and social care economies in service improvement, working with Excellence Network and Area and country colleagues to identify and provide on the ground support to areas with weakest Multi-Disciplinary and Parkinsons Nurse service. B. C. Developing tools, resources and evidence to equip professionals to influence services and support the development of new nurse and Multi-Disciplinary Teams across the UK. Working closely with the UK Parkinsons Excellence Network to develop service improvement partnerships and respond to threats to services focusing on Multi- Disciplinary teams and Nurse Posts 5. Duties and responsibilities

Providing specialist expertise to support professionals and local health and social care economies in service improvement, working with Excellence Network and area and country colleagues to identify and provide on the ground support to areas with weakest Multi-Disciplinary and Parkinsons Nurse services. Review data and evidence to determine priority areas for specialist support with service improvement, with effective involvement of local teams and Excellence Network colleagues. Work with the Service Improvement Programme Manager, Area and Country colleagues and Excellence Network members to plan an approach to targeting priority areas, building relationships and identifying levers to influence change. Provide on the ground expertise in user involvement, needs assessment, pathway development and service resign to spearhead improvements where Multi-Disciplinary and nurse services are weakest, equipping local stakeholders to bring about change. Support robust evaluation of the impact of service redesign for Multi-Disciplinary Teams and Parkinsons Nurses. Support the Excellence Network with service development activities to generate evidence of best practice in key aspects of provision and identify cost effective service models. B. C. Developing tools and resources and evidence to equip professionals to influence services and support the development of new nurse and multi-disciplinary teams across the UK. Work with Network members and colleagues to identify key tools to enable professionals, activists and service planners to influence services. Plan and develop user friendly tools, testing, reviewing and regularly updating these with stakeholders. Ensure plans are in place to disseminate the resources developed and maximise uptake. Working closely with the UK Parkinsons Excellence Network to develop service improvement partnerships and respond to threats to services focusing on Multi- Disciplinary teams and Nurse Posts. Work with colleagues to identify and develop partnerships for service improvement, linking with the UK Parkinsons Excellence Network structures. Work with the local teams to secure new posts, initiating meeting with commisoners and services planners and support relevant steering groups for new posts where appropriate. Support local teams to respond to threats in services by marshalling evidence and mobilising campaigning activity. 6. General Responsibilities Operate to the competency level required for the role, as identified through the core competency profile. Contribute positively to the directorate and team meetings, team working and implementing organisational priorities. Be flexible within the broad remit of the post. Take direction on projects and priorities, which may vary from time to time. Abide by organisational policies and practices, including the equal opportunities policy. Essential Desirable Significant experience and expertise in service redesign within health and social care. Demonstrable experience of facilitating cost effective improvements in health and social care. Skills and Abilities and Personal Attributes Strong networking and influencing skills. Ability to analyse data and evidence to support service improvement. Project management skills. Evaluation skills. Ability to work flexibly and prioritise activities in response to need. Report writing and presentation skills. Well-developed facilitation skills. Credibility with professionals and service planners in the neurological field. Knowledge Strong understanding of health and social care planning and commissioning across the whole of the UK including the devolved nations Strong understanding of multi-disciplinary team working Understanding of neurological services. Education/ Training Degree level or equivalent experience in a relevant field. Other Requirements Willingness to develop an understanding of disability issues.
