The Hospice is not part of the NHS and needs to raise more than 7 million each year to fund its work; all the profits from our delivered by Hospice clinicians and care workers who are experts in end of life care. Each course counts as CPD towards NMC Revalidation, and you CLINICAL SKILLS will receive a certificate of attendance. 5 8 9 CHRONIC CONDITIONS Lymphoedema Awareness Recognise and manage the treatment of chronic swelling Fluid retention is a common sideeffect of a compromised lymphatic system. This session introduces you to what causes it, and suggests ways to treat it with effective skin care, exercise, compression and Medical Lymphatic Drainage (MLD). Please note that this session does not include instruction on how to do MLD. from all clinical settings who have direct contact with patients, clients and residents experiencing lymphoedema. Neurological Conditions Dementia Awareness Understand these degenerative Understand dementia and its impact conditions and their impact on patients, families and carers Attend this course to find out about the progression and treatment of a range of the most common inherited or sporadic diseases that affect the central nervous system, including Motor Neurone Disease, Parkinson s, Huntington s and Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. 7 13 CLINICAL SKILLS Verification of Expected Death Apply effective behavioural change management skills and techniques There s no need to wait for a GP when a death occurs out of hours registered nurses who have attended relevant training and been assessed as practically competent in the workplace are able to carry out Verification of Expected Death. This course lays the foundation of theoretical competency. Registered nurses from all clinical settings. 20 Sep, 11 Oct, 13 Nov, 15 Dec 2017, 18 Jan, 22 Feb, 21 Mar 2018 FREE while funded by HEEKSS, then 50 + VAT Syringe Driver Part 1: Introduction Hands-on guide to using the McKinley T34 pump This session will give you a working knowledge of syringe drivers. You will explore the most common drugs used, and practise drug calculations; and everyone will be given the opportunity to set up and manage a McKinly T34 pump. Registered nurses and doctors from all clinical settings who are new to using syringe drivers. 19 Oct, 14 Dec 2017, 23 Jan, 1 Mar 2018 Syringe Driver Part 2: Classroom-based Competencies Refresh and demonstrate your knowledge This course is designed to build on Syringe Driver Part 1: Introduction. You will refresh and demonstrate your knowledge of drug conversions, and prepare and maintain a McKinley T34 pump for use on lifelike models. Everyone will receive an individual classroom-based competency assessment at the end of the session. 8 BOOK ONLINE: CLINICAL SKILLS Catheterisation Insert and manage all types of catheters This session covers anatomy and physiology of the urinary tract in both men and women, clinical indications for catheterisation, policies and guidelines, and demonstrations of the procedure on male and female anatomical models. Suprapubic site management is also covered, and everyone will have chance to practise their technique on a range of lifelike models.
