N-003A focuses on promoting, maintaining or restoring health of clients with alterations in psychological and/or physiological functioning. Specific topics covered in this course include men's and women's health, health alterations in respiratory and cardiac systems, conditions of immune response, and psychosocial alterations impacting individuals and families. Clinical experiences will include both inpatient and community-based settings. A materials fee of $ $90.00 is required for this course to cover lab learning activities. b. Computational/problem solving evaluations Use of Kognito Mid-Fidelity simulation. Use of Med-Com to achieve scores of 80% or greater. Use of Virtual IV Simulation with grade of 90% or better. Presentations/student demonstration observations Rubric provided for in-service presentation. Rubric provided for SHC poster presentation. Self/peer assessment and portfolio evaluation Portfolio submission at end of the semester. True/false/multiple choice examinations Various testing methods including essay, multiple choice, and/or fill in the blank. Mid-term and final evaluations Two evaluations during Nsg 003a. The student must demonstrate minimum competence by the end of the Psych rotation (5 weeks) and then, at mid-term and final for the Med-Surg rotation (5 weeks in and then, at the end of the 10th week). Students have continual information about grades in the theory class because of CANVAS learning management system. Required Material Description This course requires students to simulate real clinical activities that have been taught, in preparation for actual client care as part of the course agreement. Tangible Personal Property? Yes. The materials listed below, as part of the learning process and in their entirety, are the student's tangible personal property. Owned or controlled by the student? Yes. The completed practice equipment materials are owned and controlled by the student. They have value after the class is completed because the students continue to utilize them both throughout the semester and in subsequent semester in the Skills Laboratory as they reinforce and are tested on their advancing proficiency. Solely available from the district? Yes. By the district providing these materials it is less expensive for the student since the material is being purchased by the student at a bulk or discounted rate instead of normal retail prices. Continuing value outside the classroom setting? Yes. These completed listed materials and their accompanying verification of proficiency of use are of continuing value in that they form a record of lessons learned through the various stages of the course of instruction. When reviewed in combination with the other course assignments, they provide a valuable reference resource to the student.
