6 Where the is based Adherence to trust guidelines/protocols Completion of appropriate supervised learning events in relation to above activities St Thomas Hospital Acute Assessment Ward (AAW): This is a new purpose built unit on the ground floor of Lambeth Wing, which is due to open in early June 2015 General Medical Wards (GMW): North Wing William Gull, HIllyers and Albert Wards Where appropriate for both AAW and GMW this will include being responsible for patients on outlying wards, as dictated by the of medical patients at St Thomas Hospital In addition, where applicable outpatient clinics that FY2s can attend may be held at Guy s Hospital (there is a free interhospital shuttle). The FY2s currently rotate to either diabetes or clinical toxicology for 2-3 individual stand alone weeks during there 4 month. It is planned that the diabetes week will be based with the community diabetes team and that instead of the toxicology week, the FY2 will instead work either with the team or the community ageing and health team. The consultant attached to the team will be your clinical supervisor for the whole. We have a turnover of around 40,000 patients per year. Lambeth and Southwark have some of the highest rates of STIs and HIV in the country. This offers a unique opportunity to learn how to manage the whole spectrum of STIs in a friendly, supportive environment. We run various specialist clinics, have an Academic half day as well as a dedicated F2/VTS/CNS teaching session. The post starts with a 2 week induction period, completing our in-house online local induction and sitting in with other clinicians before starting to see patients. The department has a weekly academic half day consisting of case discussions and lectures, and there is a dedicated teaching session for our F2/VTS doctors. One day a week would be spent in the HIV department. This would include attending the ward meeting then a round with the ward reg and/or HIV OP experience. Learning preoperative and postoperative work up of gynae. surgical patients and to participate in the daily inpatient care of Gynaecology patients. To review patients in outpatient setting (e.g. Gynae outpatient clinic, rapid access clinic) under supervision by senior colleagues To improve their technique of Gynaecological examination / assessment in outpatients and to carry out examination under anaesthesia appreciating more complex cases. BR3 3BX Old Age Psychiatry Assessment ward for the Elderly, Functional and Organic mental Illnesses. Mixed gender. There is plenty of opportunity to gain experience in treating elderly patients with multiple morbidity, principle of pharmacology including psychopharmacology and drug interaction in the elderly, psychopathology including cognitive impairment, working in a multidisciplinary team. Communication with carers and relatives, regarding diagnosis, treatment plan, prognosis and discharge planning is part of day to day practice. There is also opportunity for medical and non-medical students teaching. Chelsham House Bethlem Royal Hospital Dr Dipankar Bandyopadhyay The F2 works with one CT looking after 20 inpatient beds for the elderly with occasional early onset dementia patients. Patients with both functional and organic illnesses are assessed on the ward. Serves all four boroughs within SLAM. There is a dedicated inpatient consultant on the ward as well as two STs who visit the ward one day a week each. Close liaison with community teams and general hospitals social services and GPs is practised. Psychiatric and physical examination, investigation, maintenance of records and timely discharge summaries are essential duties. There is an expectation of participation in audit. 9-5 Monday to Friday. There is no on call commitment in psychiatry in this post.
