1 Date: 19 th August 2016 Interview cum Admission Notice Course: Ph.D. in Centre for English Studies (Session: 2016) A. Important Instructions 1. The date for PhD interview is scheduled on 22 nd August 2016 (Reporting time: 10:00 am to 12:00 noon). 2. Based on the CUCET 2016 Merit score (Percentile), the following applicants are called for Ph.D. Admission Interview at Central University of Jharkhand for the above mentioned course. They are directed to appear in the interview as per instructions mentioned on the University website Apart from the CUCET applicants, Fellowship holders (viz., UGC (JRF)/ CSIR (JRF)/ RGNF etc. qualified) candidates in the concerned/ relevant discipline are directly invited in the PhD interview. JRF candidates, who also appeared in CUCET 2016, will be treated as Fellowship holder (JRF) Candidate Only. 4. Fellowship holder (UGC JRF/ CSIR (JRF) qualified) candidates with valid Fellowship/ JRF ship (also refer to clause 5 below), who had applied through CUCET 2016 and exempted from the entrance examination (CUCET 2016), or who had NOT applied through CUCET 2016, are eligible to appear in Ph.D. interview for the admission in the concerned/ relevant discipline. 5. It is to note that the Fellowship/ JRF ship will only be considered after producing valid fellowship document i.e., the certificate must be within the validity period as mentioned by UGC/ CSIR and the date of issuance of the certificate must be on or before the last date of the application (i.e., 22 nd April 2016). 6. In case of any discrepancy in the list, the same may kindly be brought into the notice of the University on or before the date of PhD Interview by 10 am. 7. The admission will be done on the basis of merit scores (Percentile) of CUCET 2016 following minimum eligibility criteria, interview, employing standard weightage criteria and reservation policy. 8. The JRF candidate, who had NOT applied through CUCET 2016, will need to fill an application form and to submit on or before date of interview. 9. The PhD admission seats for fellowship holders (JRFs) will not be considered as Over and Above of the advertised seats. The number of advertised seats will be filled by CUCET (2016), and NET/ fellowship holder (JRF) candidates. The details of seats in respective Centres are available at Admission Page. The minimum qualifying marks for PhD interview is 50 percentile ( 45 percentile in case of reserved category i.e., SC/ ST/ OBC (Non Creamy Layer)/ Differently Abled Candidates) in CUCET The weightage to calculate the final merit score for PhD admissions for all qualified/ eligible candidates will be followed as under: Level Maximum Marks Marking system 10 th 10 marks 10 marks for first Class ( 60%); marks Graduation Post-Graduation Interview 10 marks 20 marks 50 marks 07 marks for second class ( 45% to 60%); 05 marks or third Class (<45%). 20 marks for first Class; 14 marks for second class; 12. Candidates are advised to see other important admission related documents (Admission procedure, documents required at the time of interview, Course Fee etc.) uploaded in the PhD Admission Page of University Website. 13. Interested PhD Candidates will have to produce all required documents in original for verification and submit a copy of all required documents during the time of interview. The candidature of the reported candidate will be decided after the document verification. 14. OBC candidates will have to produce the OBC certificate (Non Creamy Layer) in the prescribed format. No extra time will be given to the OBC candidates for producing the certificate and therefore their candidature will be considered as unreserved (UR). 15. The order of the merit will be finalized after actual verification from ORIGINAL mark sheet / certificates etc. 16. All interested candidates need to report to the Respective Centre(s) at Central University of Jharkhand, Brambe Campus, Ranchi before 12:00 noon on the respective dates to book their candidature against the vacant seats. Timely reporting is necessary for booking your candidature for admission. Late reported candidate(s) will not be entertained at any circumstances. 17. Candidates are advised to visit university website regularly for updates. 2
