Meeting Minutes Review: December minutes reviewed and approved. Presentation: Jodi Sailors presented information about the new organization of the Red Cross and how it affects us. Texas is broken up into 3 regions. Texoma chapter is located in the Metro area region and contains the counties of Grayson, Fannin, Cooke and Montague. It is still located in Denison. At any time the local chapter has exhausted their resources, help will be provided on a regional level. o Processes are being streamlined to eliminate duplication of effort and to promote efficiency. Plans are put into place to improve response. o Our region is in the top 5 in the nation as far as size. Three classes per month are provided by the Texoma chapter. See website for details. lo=6g8vsg47sb o More and more classes are being offered online as well. Local disaster response: o Once dispatched by the fire department or other responsible agency, the Red Cross will respond to the scene with drinks and snacks for emergency workers and victims.
2 If requested, the Red Cross will provide meals for the emergency workers. Victims of disasters meet with an on-site caseworker to determine their immediate needs of food, clothing and shelter. Once their needs are assessed, the caseworker will provide the appropriate assistance in these areas. o Emergency Red Cross Disaster Assistance Includes: Emergency food, shelter and new clothing Mobile and fixed-site feeding Bedding supplies Emergency medical items Mental Health Services o Response time for small scale emergencies is immediate. In mass care situations, the response time goal is 2 hours, except for extreme situations when resources are exhausted. Funds to provide these services come strictly from donations. There is no government funding, although Red Cross is supported by United Way. Donations intended for the sole use of the local chapter must be specified on the check. Red Cross always needs more volunteers. Sarah Somers requested a Shelter Manager course, which Jodi will work on setting up. 9:56 Jessie motioned to adjourn. Van seconded. Motion carried.
