It wll focus on the nteracton and ntersecton among the servce delvery system, polcy ntatves and the educaton and tranng of professonals at the pre-servce and n-servce level. Cheryl Crocker has a BSc n Elementary and Specal Educaton from the Unversty of South Dakota. She earned a MEd Unversty of Alberta. Her thess research was focused on the transton from school to work on youth wth dsabltes. Cheryl was awarded her PhD from the Unversty of Vctora. Her doctoral dssertaton was a polcy to practce analyss of a provncal program supportng famles and chldren wth dsabltes. Cheryl s an nstructor at Grant MacEwan Unversty n Edmonton, Alberta. She has a jont appontment wth Health and Communty Studes and Psychology. She has been nvolved n a CIDA funded nclusve educaton project for the past 4 years. Cheryl also lectures at the Unversty of Calgary n the Communty Rehabltaton and Dsablty Studes (CRDS) program and Athabasca Unversty n the Center for Nursng and Health Studes. Cheryl has just completed a two year cover-off poston wth the Unversty of Calgary as the graduate student advsor for CRDS. Her focus areas are research, program evaluaton and dsablty polcy. Pror to jonng Grant MacEwan Unversty, Cheryl worked for Alberta Vocatonal College. Alberta Famly and Socal Servces (Servces for the Handcapped), Western Industral Research and Tranng Center (now Chrysals) and Mnnesota Dversfed Industres (St. Paul, MN).

3 Cheryl consults to varous government and non-government organzaton prmarly n the areas of program evaluaton, polcy development, board governance and staff development. She has worked wth organzatons provdng servces to chldren wth dsabltes and ther famles, adults wth developmental dsabltes, communty and parent groups as well as servce clubs. Cheryl currently sts on the CNIB Board, chars the clent servces commttee and s a member of the natonal programs and servces commttee. Cheryl s a past member of the Premer s Councl of the Status for Persons wth Dsabltes, the Canadan Councl of Rehabltaton and Work and Connect Socety. Cheryl has presented at a number of provncal, natonal and nternatonal conferences ncludng the Internatonal Symposum on Dsablty and Human Resource Development, the Canadan Assocaton of Rehabltaton Professonals, the Alberta Councl on Dsablty Servces, the Natonal Councl on Rehabltaton Educaton, the Alberta Assocaton for Communty Lvng and TASH. Cheryl has authored a number of courses desgned to prepare people to work n provdng supports to ndvduals wth dsabltes. These courses are delvered both n the classroom and on lne usng Moodle and Blackboard. She has also been actve n research related to on lne learnng at both Grant MacEwan Unversty and Athabasca Unversty. Cheryl has acted as the prncpal or co-nvestgator on research projects n the areas of workforce, sexual sterlzaton settlement, self advocacy and person centered plannng and communty capacty buldng. Lkewse, servce provders frequently make assumptons about pan experences that can be naccurate and negatvely mpact the therapeutc relatonshp. Ths presentaton wll revew the emergng scence behnd usng arts based approaches for pan communcaton and demonstrate how smple, wdely avalable, technology can be used by patents to produce dgtal mages to better communcate ther pan experence.

4 Cary A. Brown, PhD, Assocate Professor, Faculty of Rehabltaton Medcne, Unversty of Alberta. Dr Brown s a full tme tenured faculty member at the Unversty of Alberta. She has practced clncally as an occupatonal therapst, department supervsor and academc n Canada, Saud Araba and the Unted Kngdom. Cary teaches and researches n the areas of knowledge translaton, health lteracy, sleep, and chronc pan across the lfe span. She has numerous publcatons on these topcs and presents regularly at natonal and nternatonal conferences. Cary annually teaches a graduate module n Sleep and Health and has receved prevous fundng for research n the areas of dsordered sleep n both chldren and persons wth dementa. Her nterest n dsordered sleep s lnked to her research actvtes n chronc pan, one of whch receved the Canadan Pan Socety Pan Awareness Award 2010 for Knowledge Translaton actvtes. Decsons based on these assessments have mportant consequences for workers and ther employers. Research related to these assessments wll be dscussed ncludng recent studes examnng whether usng performance-based assessment leads to better return-to-work outcomes. Douglas Gross, Ph.D., BScPT + Assocate Professor, Physcal Therapy Dr Douglas Gross (PhD, BScPT) s an Assocate Professor n the Department of Physcal Therapy at the Unversty of Alberta. He s also currently the Drector of the Rehabltaton Research Centre and a Research Afflate wth Mllard Health, the WCB-Alberta s rehabltaton faclty. Hs research focuses on njured workers wth musculoskeletal condtons, ncludng predcton of recovery and return to work, clncal decson support tools, as well as nvestgatng the effectveness of clncal and publc health nterventons. He has gven numerous natonal and nternatonal presentatons, wth nvtatons for keynote presentatons at conferences n Canada, the Unted States, Hong Kong, Korea,

5 and Australa. He has publshed over 60 artcles and book chapters and has receved over $1 mllon n research fundng.
