2 Empowering the Line, Engaging the Team A s the saying goes, there s no I in team. That s why this year s Virginia Patient Safety Summit is focused on how and why hospitals and health systems can implement strategies that encourage all employees to be champions for quality improvement and patient safety. In its seventh year, the Virginia Patient Safety Summit continues to provide information and best practices to enhance patient safety, reduce the risk of error, and improve effectiveness of teams in the delivery of health care. The Summit has gained a reputation for one of the best patient safety conferences in the nation, and attracts close to 600 attendees each year. Target Audience: Patient safety is not specific to any one position within a hospital or facility. Each and every employee holds safety to the highest standard. For this reason, we want to encourage not only nurses, physicians, clinical professionals, patient safety officers, risk managers, long term care professionals and hospital and health system leadership to attend, but anyone who is committed to practicing the safest of health care practices. After completing this activity, participants should be better able to: Explain the importance of engaging all levels of employees in order to achieve and exceed organizational quality and patient safety goals Diagnose and address the factors, both human and environmental, that may hinder interpersonal connection and operational excellence Identify individual tools and tactics to enhance multidisciplinary teamwork and collaboration in a health care setting to achieve quality measures Discuss the value in recognizing people as an organizations most valued asset, and acquire skills to translate ideas into processes and policies Registration Fees Registration fees are per person.
