2 Nutrition related interventions under National Health Mission As under-nutrition is the underlying cause of one third of under five mortality, various cost effective interventions to promote optimum nutrition are being implemented under NHM Breastfeeding Promotion (MAA Programme) Micronutrient Supplementation De-worming (National De-worming Day) Immunization (Routine Immunisation and Intensified Mission Indradhanush) Facility based SAM management (NRC) Health and nutrition promotion in schools and VHNDs Food fortification under FSSAI
3 MoHFW initiatives: Poshan Maah During Poshan Maah various above interventions will be intensified under NHM apart from creating Jan Aandolan for nutrition by a Nation-wide media campaign Extensive media campaign for nutrition Specific nutrition promotive interventions under NHM
4 Extensive Media Campaign Mass Media Campaign: Television and Radio One month broadcasting on TV and radio spots on: Anaemia Complementary feeding IDCF (Diarrhoea) Hand-washing Kayakalp Breastfeeding Panel Discussion on Doordarhsan: Panel Discussion on nutrition on DD in its Doctors Online programme. Panel discussion on Lok Sabha TV: in its Healthy India programme Senior officers of the Ministry and Technical experts shall participate in the live discussion
5 Print media and Social media Coverage Press advertisement on anaemia. Launch of Anaemia Mukt Bharat (AMB) program by the Hon ble HFM Press Conference to be addressed by HFM Press Briefings to be held by Minister of Health and Family Welfare, MoS (HFW) and Secretary (HFW) Info-graphics and GiFs on key nutrition messages will be developed and will be disseminated through the Ministry s social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter and YouTube Channel SMS to be sent through the MCTS network to create awareness on age appropriate nutrition
6 Activities to be carried out by States and UTs under NHM during Poshan Maah State and UTs are to Join hands with Department of Women and Child Development at all levels involving entire field functionary s right up to ASHAs to support in organizing public events with local leaders and PRIs on nutrition promotion Conducting one day Sensitization Workshop for various health service providers on Mothers Absolute Affection (MAA) Programme with emphasis on IYCF and especially complementary feeding
7 Activities to be carried out by States and UTs under NHM during Poshan Maah All scheduled home visits by ASHAs to be ensured with focus on quality counseling on appropriate child feeding practices Nutrition Rehabilitation Centres (NRCs) should be geared up for management of the SAM children with medical complications who are identified by growth monitoring at AWCs and referred to NRCs during the Poshan Maah Action taken report on above activities along with some relevant photographs are to be shared with MoHFW by 1 st week of October 2018
8 Specific nutrition promotive interventions under NHM at National level At National level dissemination workshop is being planned by MoHFW to launch and disseminate the Anemia Mukt Bharat (AMB) guidelines along with Home Based Young Child Care (HBYC) guidelines AIIMS New Delhi along with six regional AIIMS, will undertake intensive BCC along with test & treat campaigns focused on WRA(15-49 years) and under five children Sites: MoHFW-Nirman Bhawan, New Delhi and urban and rural field practice areas of six regional AIIMS and AIIMS New Delhi in collaboration with State health department under National Health Mission and UNICEF State Offices Mobilizing people for anemia screening activity will be done by ASHA, ANM and other field level functionaries, for screening camps
