2 Course Overview: This course will provide surgical teams currently working in robotic surgery and teams who just started adapting robotic technology into their facilities the strategies and skills necessary to successfully implement and run a robotic surgery program for multiple specialties. The course will focus on improving communication, teamwork, OR efficiency and patient safety with the use of didactic lectures and hands on breakout sessions. Objectives: 1. Discuss the need for education and training when adapting new procedures. 2. Recognize patient considerations and comorbidities in robotic surgery. 3. Describe factors of positioning for patient safety. 4. Discuss effective port placement and optimization of robotic and laparoscopic ports. 5. Identify the administrative aspects of implementing robotic technology. 6. Recognize efficient aspects of OR setup and turnover. 7. Describe the roles of the surgical team members if the need to convert to open occurs. 8. Identify the steps needed to troubleshoot robotic equipment.
